I listened to Linden Radio for a couple of hours yesterday. Generally I loved being able to listen to the musical creations of fellow residents. I was already a fan of Moopf, of course, and loved Torley's music with her video, but I had no idea that there were so many residents with musical talent.
I have to declare a personal interest in the resident interviews, as I was interviewed, but I have no idea whether it was used or not. I loved putting voices to the people I know, both Linden and non-Linden, and I though Adam did a really good job - he put people at their ease, has a really nice voice, and didn't edit the conversations into perfection - left them as real conversations, which I like a lot.
The downside...what's with the vomiting, people? I mean it is pretty unpleasant listening to someone making a convincing vomiting sound once let alone again...and again...and again.... I didn't even understand why it was relevant or clever or funny or whatever it was that motivated someone to put it in there.
I would have liked to know which resident I was listening to when the music changes...even looking at the shoutcast page doesn't always seem to give you an SL name.
I don't like the advertisements that some musicians included with their music. That doesn't seem right really. Tha should be all or no-one, in my view. Plus there is a danger that they might go out of date really quickly. As have some of the Linden tips...I think.
But overall, I like the eclectic mix of sound and interview and the odd rather nervous tip from a Linden, and I shall listen. Cali

I've heard some interesting stuff on there too.... in fact I even tuned in to it via Shoutcast at work for an hour or so yesterday.
So... how do we volunteer to be featured? Anyone know?

I had this on nearly all day yesterday and really enjoyed it. I didn't actually hear any of my music on it, so was wondering if any had actually made it on there - nice to know it did This thread has also reminded me to seek out Beatfox Xevious to see if he/she (not sure) has any more music online. I heard a track by him/her and really liked it. Is it Adam Linden doing the fake weather report? That bit's really quite amusing. I do agree about the vomiting. Can't remember hearing any adverts though, I must have missed those. Winamp was faithfully giving me all the artist and track titles btw. It looks like most of the artists were using their SL names, although a few were obviously band names.

Please remember back in speech classes and try to eliminate the words, Uhmmm and Ahhh from your vocabulary. The station was great to listen to which was a nice change from many of the other streams heard throughout SL. Adam, how about adding writings, poetry, short stories, etc by the authors? Maybe look around for a comedy team/comedian that is willing to do a bit for you. Please keep up the good work, it's a nice alternative!
Edited: Is Linden Radio only a main grid broadcast, or can teens be included in interviews as well?

I'd also LOVE to be able to listen to the interviews individually. They're there intresting and it would be great to be able to browse them 1 by 1

Yeah, Adam and Jack Linden did that. I laughed when I heard it too. I think radio Linden is a great idea, I had no idea so many residents were so musical. I also thing it's an effective way to disseminate tips to players without them having to search for a help kiosk of some sort and click it, and receive a notecard that they have to read. They can wander around the WA and just listen to get info. I hope they intend to use Radio Linden at it Help Island too.

BeaT's Homepage (hasn't been updated in a while, though) And my most recent release (not listed on the site yet): Gone Mobile in 30 Prepaid Minutes. It's a remake of something my friend Analoq did several years ago. I'm sorry to say I haven't been composing much in recent years. I'll soon be moving out of my folks' place and making some lifestyle adjustments, so maybe that will be more conducive to music-making. We'll see what happens. In any case, glad you liked my track! Do you remember which one it was?

Whoever the interviewer is is an idiot. He can't keep a single train of thought for very long and constantly brings up stupid stuff like "what's your favorite moment" after some technical question that he mindlessly goes "yea, OK" too all the time. It's damn annoying. Learn how to CORRECTLY and THOROUGHLY interview people!

I really enjoyed the interviews, most interviews on TV etc are so rigid and over rehearsed. They sounded kind of fresh

They sounded kind of fresh The problem is the interviewer can't stay focused and sounds pretty mindless about what the interviewee says. He should leave the technical interviews to someone else and just stick with the "fluff" crap.

The resident interviews, at least, had to be done over Skype, and I know myself how difficult it is to do interviews over the telephone. You don't get any of the visual clues and body language that help when you are in the same room as the person you are interviewing. You have to keep track of the questions, as well as understanding the person's answer, and knowing when they have finished a particular train of thought. It's hard. Obviously you will have set questions in these circumstances, and the interest comes from hearing how differently people answer the same question. I think he has a lovely voice, which is clear without being strident. Cali

That's why you leave pauses between questions, then edit them out afterwards. It ain't rocket science. Plenty of audio editing software out there. Doesn't even take a great deal of skill if you're just deleting pauses. Lewis
