ive seen it offered a few times where you can own land outright, with out having a premium account. im assuming this is on private sims and what not, but if anyone has leads as to availablity for these plots, let me know, id like one.

Well, there are arrangements where you can "buy" your land and pay "tier" to the landowner.
For instance, I bought land from Nexus Nash and Adam Zaius when I was still a new basic member, almost a year ago, and enjoyed having my own land (and enjoyed it more than renting, which I had briefly before, in two different places). When they moved to Azure Islands, we had even better things - like the ability to ban people from our parcels, stream videos, and so on. Though I have long since became a premium, and have a store with the land I pay Lindens tier on, I have always enjoyed "owning" my land on Azure Islands. I can also sell the land if I want to, and keep the proceeds. Because it is beautiful land in a wonderfully-run Sim, I have no doubt that I could do so if I ever wanted to. Maybe that is what you are thinking of. coco _____________________

There was also a brief time where basic accounts weer able to own land without being a premium member. For the longest time I was a basic member with a land tier, until I did the math on the quarterly and annual plans where it actually came out to be about the same price, plus the additional stipend.

They may reset the permissions so that you have owner "privileges" on the land, but they are still the OWNER OF RECORD in SL. This is nothing but a scam, and if you fall for it, you're a brainless twit. _____________________

People do call it "owning" and their point of view (I believe) is that you don't really "own" from SecondLife, as the Lindens can reclaim their land when they want just like when they sell it to you. What will generally happen is they'll ask you for a group of which you are an officer, which has at least 3 members, and deed the land to that group, allowing all officers to make changes. There is no way to transfer land on private islands in the same way you can on the main grid though. People are allowed to call it what they want though, and doing so doesn't make them a scammer. Again, please refrain from name calling. _____________________
