I want to show a potential client examples of how SL can be used to simulate a factory environment for training purposes. Can anyone suggest builds that might be an example of this?

If the demo is successful we'll be looking for a builder to build mock-ups of factory machinery to train employees on safe use of equipment. The client would be on their own island and need detailed replicas of hundreds of machines to be rezzed as needed for training.

How would you pay a hired builder for this job? And how much?

If the demo was successful and the company committed then this would be negoiated. For the demo there's no budget so I just am looking for examples to show them what's possible.

I need to interest them first.

It may not be quite what you're looking for, but Arena 1 of my Laserquest arena is set up as an industrial setting.

When you land at my landmark (see signature), enter, turn right and walk up the stairs. Don't use the teleporter, that'll take you to the sci fi arena :)

I plan to rebuild when I move land in a month or so, and hope to have a bit more detail there - what is your time schedule?

The Linden created off shore oil rig is heavily industrial. It is located half way between the mainland and the North continent. The oil rig pumps prim boxes out of the earth, drops them onto a conveyor belt which moves them into a pipeline for delivery to the North continent.
