Are there SL related forums other than this one?

I see a lot of comments from people who seem to think there is nowhere else in the whole world to talk to other SL members than in these forums.

Here's one current example of someone seeming to think these forums area the only place to talk to other people in SL about SL related matters.

From: someone
not so long ago Philip declared that the safeguard from fraud was reputation. ...
how can the player community disseminate information and form consensus without having access to the sum of individual personal matters? it can not.

naming names? bring it on!

This post doesn't make much sense to when alternate places to talk with other SL members about SL matters are as easily reached as clicking on The Forums At SLuniverse.com or The Forums at SecondCitizen.com

If those forums had existed before Linden Lab had a forum and then Linden Lab created these forums people would say that LL was GOMming the forum sites.

I think it would be good if people put those forum names and websites like that in their in their signatures here so more people know about them

Are those two the only two non company forums for SL disussions?

It might be good if these company forums were shut down completely. That would make it easier for the non company forums to grow, and there wouldn't be any company restrictins at all.

Then the company could spend it's money on making the SL program work better instead of payinig for the forums.

What I would really love is a mature SL forum. (And I'm not talking about a forum where people don't incessantly whine about their threads being moved/closed. ;) )

There are SO MANY questions I'd like to ask, topics to broach, that really aren't appropriate for a PG forum. MMOrgy has an SL forum but nobody has posted there since January I think...

I think you could have your mature discussion at sluniverse.com/forums or at forums.secondcitizen.com.

Just FYI, you can use http://forums.sluniverse.com to access the forums on the site as well.

As the world grows, there will be more forums, and that will be a good thing.

For one thing, there really are getting to be too many of us in here!

Six months ago, I could pretty much keep up with the major issues. Now, it would take me forever just to read and comment on the Anshe money thread in Land and Economy! Which grew huge overnight!

So splintering off into more like-minded groups isn't such a bad thing. It's friendlier, too.

And for those, like me, who prefer that their peers NOT have any power to help remove them from the game itself and have their goods confiscated, it is good to have some choice besides here, where you can speak freely without fear of losing your game.

Stratics is going to have an SL forums, also, and that will be another good choice.

I can be happy in a forum where pretty much anything goes - like Second Citizen - and I can be happy in the Stratics forum, which will doubtless have considerably more decorum. I absolutely do not care what other people say, or how raunchy they get, as long as I am free to talk as well. In other words, what people can do (or not do) doesn't bother me the slightest - as long as those rules really mean what they say, and are fairly applied, with some logic.

Then, too, more forums to choose from will take the pressure off the Lindens they occasionally feel to close these forums and "reverse GOM" them out to everyone else. In addition just to taking some of the VOLUME of the amount of posts off.

The other forums provide a sort of pressure valve, as it were - not just for volume, but for those who, like me, feel they can't speak as freely as others here. And yet, we will still be able to have these "official" forums, such as they are, and I think every game needs "official" forums. However they are run.

The resident operated forums don't have any moderation or constraints at all on content, do they? Or practically none, beyond what's required for the forum provider to keep out of trouble.

And they are free for users, just like this forum is.

This forum tie's one's forum name directly to one's inworld name. Is there any provision for having a verified SL identity at the resident operated forums such as forums.sluniverse.com or forums.secondcitizen.com?

Cristiano, I notice you advertise snapzilla in your signature here but not the sluniverse forums.

This is exactly the attraction of >Second Citizen<. It's a Mature rated forum where you're free to ask or talk about anything and generally get an adult and considered discussion on the subject. The members are a very friendly, honest and talkative bunch. Even better: all your rants, flaming, trolling, and drama have their own area (currently called C:\Citizen\Unleash.Exe) so that the rest of the forums can be kept free for those that like to avoid those types of threads. There's also several additional features that make hanging out there more fun, such as the Gallery where you can post all of your piccies, and the Journal where you can run your own blog - all as part of the standard, free membership.

As you can probably guess I post there primarily - so I hope to see you all there! ;)

I'll have to check out Second Citizen sometime, seems cool, and actually active. I also swing by SLExchange's and SLUniverse's boards once in a while, but I don't see myself posting there too often due to those board's inactivity.
