Banned for not liking rap.

I just got banned from a very laggy place which I won't mention the name of but I'm sure people know where I'm talking about, for stating that I don't like rap. Is that the type of behavior I should expect out of people on SL? I got banned there one other time for playing a videogame sound while others can play their howl sound 900 times in a row, completely filling up the chat window for pages--heaven forbid someone hears a classic videogame sound. I guess I should be happy to be banned from lag stuck-up central. It's behavior like that that makes people create new identities just to give people a hard time. I'm not about to do that, I'll just post my frustrations here and move onto better places in SL.

If anyone remembers the thread I posted, "The things people get offended at", the video game sound was it--after I had pleaded for 10 minutes and no response, I made a post here, and then removed it when they finally responded back. I had to kiss-ass a total of 15 minutes to get unbanned from that place that's very high on the popularity list.

This particular place I'm talking about but won't mention the name defines stuck-up. When you walk in, usually the only thing that says "Hi" is an automated message. That's fine--that place can have their stuck-up attitude with their stuck-up clientel (clientel that wants to charge L$8000 for a half an hour of service).

You're better for it. Most Rap is horrible.

why go if the place sucks balls? Angry Ant plays mostly rock and they don't have 20 billion howls going every 30 seconds.

Even if they unbanned me, I wouldn't want to come back. I liked going there for their contests--they usually paid big Lbucks, but being that I have an avatar that doesn't look like gym material, it's doubtful I'd ever win anyway. I also went because I knew for sure that they didn't have a problem with nudity (they actually encouraged it), but I've since found a number of other places that don't have a problem with nudity either.

The whole thing that gets me on this is that I'm obsessive about reading the rules of places, and I'm obsessive about making sure I follow those rules so I don't get banned--I don't want to be someone who has 10 different logins just so I can visit places--I'm trying to be careful not to offend anyone, but it seems that, just like in real life, that's just not possible.

EDIT: And--just like in real life, if I've offended people without trying, I probably don't want to be there anyway...

You can be banned by a land owner for any *or* no reason. Since the place is so popular, they are banning folks for any reason just to thin the place out. Since the traffic payments went away, unless you are a paying customer you are a drain on their resources and are easy to give the boot too. Don't put too much into it. Its kinda like a story I read where the world was way overpopulated and you could be exicuted for a paking ticket and you recieved a light fine for murder. I kinda see thier point, if you don't like the party, go away since you cost me money.

I just seems that they could say "Don't come if if you don't like it" or just kicking me instead of banning me, but from what I've read by others' comments in IM about the place I won't say the name of, your description of what they're doing seems to match the situation the most--this place I won't mention the name of is supposedly well-known for banning people like crazy. And that's fine--they can do that, it's their right--if it helps them bring in more money without creating more lag, then more power to them.

I wasn't banned from SL, I was banned from a particular place ON SL that I won't mention the name of.

Real rap from the early 80's I quite like (that's what i call category A rap).

Category B rap grew up in the 90's, was less listenable to as it became more 'gangsta'.

Today's stuff that's just about guns, drugs, sex and violence, that you can't even sing along to... well that's just category C rap.

Well, I just saw a post from the owner of that area I was banned from, and I now see that it's a for sure that I was banned for not spending enough money there.

I'm not going to quote it verbatim because it could then be the equivalent of me saying the name of the place, but he basically said that he boots campers if he sees them. That pretty much sums it up, and I'm pretty sure that includes standing around just dancing, even if it's -not- a dance pad. Unfortunately, "boot" means banning, which is despicable in my eyes, but hey, it's their place.

What I'm hoping isn't going to happen are clubs that --expect-- people to tip the "professional" dancers. Unless they want to get some dancers that -I'd- actually be interested in, like some biker-looking dudes, I'm not giving the dancers money--they're there for the people that enjoy looking at half-naked women, and the people who enjoy it should be the ones who give them money. When I have money, I tip the DJ's (provided they're not playing all gangster "C" rap) and I donate money to the establishments.

I've spent so much on outfits that I can't wear because they weren't designed for fat characters that I usually don't have any money to spend in clubs. I pretty much just gave up trying to get outfits at stores, and now I make my own outfits. Maybe when I get stipends this time it won't be spent on outfits made for "regular"/thin/skinny people.

What I really wish in stores selling clothing in SL is that there was something that lets me try on clothes before I buy them, like in RL.
