In your preferences, I think it's the IM tab, there is an option to send IMs to your email when you are offline. It sends them to the email address you used to register. Just reply to one of those emails, but backspace the body of the email, then reply with your message. I think the address only lasts for 3 days, after that, you need to get another offline message from that person.
