I wonder if there could possibly be some review of the propositions by a Linden?
All it would take is one afternoon and tons of stuff could be cleaned up (like the following):
From: someone
Prop: 199 470 votes/135 voters/10 applied
Name: Capes, Cloaks, Coats, Veils, Belts, etc.
Category: avatar
Subcategory: clothing
Author: Nekokami Dragonfly
Prop Date: 2005-04-16

Feature Detail:
Additional mesh-based clothing types would really add a lot to the visuals of the game. Most of them could work just like the skirt, but with a different attachment point and a little flexibility in the tightness of the "belt" point. "Coats" would be a little different in that they would combine sleeve meshes separate from the shirt mesh with the cape/cloak mesh. This categorical improvement has been heavily discussed in the forums, though I've only included one pointer here, and has been requested since Beta.

I was foolish enough to take all ten of my votes almost on the first day we got votes and put it on this (at the time) popular proposal. Aboslutely nothing has ever happened on this thing leaving me esentially without votes for the entire period. it used to have an even higher numbr of votes I think, likely some have been withdrawn simply because it's been around so long.

The point is that scuttlebutt would have it that we *will* get these things, when we all get the "new" avatar (whenever that is), but that it won't happen until then. So if this is the case, why not comment to that effect and release the votes? My votes have been frozen for almost an entire year by a proposal that has been requested since Beta and that many Lindens have dropped hints over the years that they are "working on" yet hasn't even been commented on?

If the purpose of the proposal voting setup is as stated, which is to better communicate and coordinate development proposals between residents and Linden staff, then this is a perfect example of a miserable failure.

The fact that this feature is a "voting proposal" has not made it happen any faster, has not allowed LL to communicate more effectively with us about the status of it's development and has not given us any increased feeling of participation or the feeling that our "concerns have been heard." Quite the opposite in fact.

All thats happened here is that 470 plus votes have been frozen.

Not a single comment in the almost one year it has been up there beyond the original (informal) "we're really interested and working on it" in the original thread that started the proposal. If it is in development as has been hinted at, then say so, if it isn't coming until "avatar 2.0," then say so and release the votes.

How many other proposals are there like this in the list?

Hmm... I didn't know that one existed, or I might have tied up some votes in it. I think the Lindens check the votes about as often as I do.. which is around every 6 months. But I would love to see this implimented.

Agreed, I'd love to see this done, too. Actually, to be more specific, I'd love to see a coat/jacket layer with sleeves that could be made looser, as with the shirt layer; also an additional skirt layer would be good, for things that require an underskirt of a different material. And if we could wear long tunic-style shirts (or other jacket-layer garments) over a skirt without losing the bottom portion of the jacket, that'd be great.

Isn't the whole feature voting thing in limbo anyway? I mean, when was the last time a Linden performed any action on it?

Yes, I believe he meant it as in offering you something to stop whining/crying. Personally, I agree with you - the proposition system has been a bust, I don't bother reading or voting on it anymore because LL's priorities are all over the map anyway (or all about the map, I suppose). I would love to see new clothing types implemented, but then again, I would love to see so many things implemented. The proposition system was one of Linden Lab's brilliant social experiments, the least they could do is follow up on it consistently.

I agree and covered some good reasons why LL need to do precisely this >here<. It's got the potential to resolve far more than just the feature suggestions in question - I just wish the Lindens could see that :(
