Hehe, SL sure has changed alot. I remember seeing it back at E3 the first year they were showing it, was just walking by and they had some "Metaverse" or some such ad that caught my eye. I cant recall if it was a playable demo, but I talked to someone working there on the show floor in regards to the demo. This was before the beta as I recall, as they told me that it was going to go to public testing soon.

I wasn't particularly impressed by it, interesting concept, but it wasn't exactly the only game in town either, and competitior that focuses more on having websites in 3D in their world was more interesting to me at the time. It's only recently that I've become interested in SL again, but basically, its the same thing I saw back at E3, its just the player base that has made it better than how it began.

And thats a real credit to Linden Labs I think, they made something, that, really got people interested. I've seen other places were people provide the content, MMOs like SL, and other mediums, like say a Wiki; but they rarely take off, whereas SL seems to have done fairly well.

I wonder if that blogger is still in SL. Not that I'm trying to figure out who it is. I'm just curious about whether this person is still here.

Anne Beamish was one of the professors that was using SL as a teaching platform/class aid. Not sure if she's still doing it.

In her first journal entry she says her avatar is called Pixie_Powers.

I might go back and make her (Pixie_Powers) pregnant another time.

We could email her and ask if she's still here :-) She's in Seattle - send Marcos over to knock on her door.

Heh, sure. I did mail her yesterday but I think her college adress might not be active so I'm going to try this other adress I found on the main site...
What would you like me to ask her?

Artifacts!

Thanx for bringing this up, Eggy--I've bookmarked it for deeper reading later. I enjoy historical romps like this. :)

We can even say, to this, "It was done in Alpha!" Hehehe.

Of note is this particular quote, now preserved in time:

From: someone
After leaving SL today, I went home and realized that another very weird thing about it is the lack of children. I know we have the option of making our avatars small, but overall, they seem to have adult likeness. I think it would be pretty interesting to have an entire family of SLers. It would be cool to have small avatars and pets. A world full of adults is pretty creepy if you ask me. Reminds me of "Children of the Corn" only the reverse...and we all know how that turned out!

Are any of those sims still intact? Interesting read though, cool to see how things have changed since the early days! While some places do still 'ghost-town' on you, it's certainly busier than before!

Was pretty kewl to read her first impressions of LW and her suggestions for new features. I wonder if Pixie was here only during her class project and never returned or if she still logs in as Pixie or became someone else entirely. And IF she hasn't been back I wonder what she'd think of SL now :D

I'm surprised she doesn't have any pics from the old Linden city (Alpha). Philip still has bits of the city in his inventory, but apparently it crashes sims. I'd still like to see it rezzed though for the 3rd anniverssary. Perhaps if we all poke him enough about it...

Philip, if you're reading...
*pokes Philip again.

This summer, I can't remember exactly when.. June? July?

Last year it was held in the vehicle sims and lots of residents participated by rezzing old, impressive looking builds. Nothing from Alpha though. I'd love to see something from Alpha.

And Kris, don't come near me with that inventory.
