What would you do if you were stuck in SL forever?

I found this to be quite a horrific thought:
From: Rick Crossing
was wondering if it would be possible for a person's brain could be transferred to SL if they were in a Coma, or even after they were dead but their brain was kept alive somehow.
What, only interface with ONE measly program?

-I suppose you could explore all of SL, or spend the time building masterpieces, but you wouldn't be able to do much texture work :p
-Apply for a position at LL. Change your name to "24/7 Linden".
-Also, since your brain needs a rest too, you can make a decent wage by sleeping in camping chairs ;)

One thing, though. When the grid goes down, everything goes black.

My question woul be this, would we have a full perception? That is all of our senses? Full Sight, taste, feel, etc? Would we be able to TP or would we be stuck on our little lots of land?

We'd be stumbling around (lame default anims), experiencing bouts of bullet-time (lag), while the weather never changed, the sun never truly set, and if you were truly damned, your home point would be near a *ingo casino.

OTOH, we'd never get hungry, sick, or die. We'd simply catch massive air.
Although I think we'd be eternally fucked if we were to get kicked 'off-world'.

Hypothetically, let's assume you can do anything that can be done within the SL interface. Assume only visual input, and keyboard/mouse ouput from the brain (tall enough order). There are all those messy questions like who's taking care of the life support, do you need to earn money to keep your wetware alive, how do you reboot the PC, can you use other programs on the PC, etc. which expand on this idea (and make it less important, compared to another topic: What would you do if you were stuck using a computer forever).

That's what I was thinking, but you can imagine what it would be like with full/arbitrary sensory inputs, if you like ;)

When they add full Firefox support, there will be no need for other applications.

I'd be very bored, because if I was stuck entirely inside SL, it wouldn't be possible for me to create the textures I need to bring life to my building and clothing design work. And forget about being a texture artist! Gah! Where's my Photoshop? Where's my Internet resource files? Where's my cameras?

I'd probably just yiff myself to death. :p

Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.

- Have the time to save up for and enjoy one of Starax's magic wands.
- Be even more upset by alpha-sorting issues, being "Ruth'ed" would take on new dimensions of sexual confusion/frusteration.
- Have the time to build and create a lot more.
- Never have to worry about pesky nuances like having to get up to eat or use the bathroom.

All in all looks like it would be worth it, sign me up! :D

It seems like all of the fun places in Sl are dying. What would we do? You would be in the Sun but not feel it, you would exist but not breath, your perception would be limited, you could do the cyber nasty but it would be meaningless.

My days of doing fun things like exploring have come to an end. With the lag and sim crashes not to mention those pesky security script users it is pointless. My days of flying are over. Water exploration is pointless for the same reason. What would it be like to go through life nervously moving slowly hoping not to enter someones private area by mistake? Then geting pushed or TP home? Then having some foxtrot alfa explain he does it because he can or because he had a problem with one or a few residents.

About not having to eat or sleep or whatever? The alternate is doing a nothing. I enjoy eating, feeling the sun on my face, the spray of the sea. I could not think of a worse fate then being comdemed to SL 24/7.

I'd play with the Appearance editor even more.

Then I'd horrifically realize I couldn't browse the Web anymore (oh noes, no more drama on the forums !), then ask other residents what the RL news were.

Then I'd wonder how the hell I was gonna finish the myriad RL projects I'm involved in.

And how the hell I'd upload new textures/sounds.

Ah, and I'd probably get fired.

No. When I take over the grid you'd be one of my Villaingineers.
I don't fire my underlings, I... well, actually, you'd be executed in an amusing fashion.
'firing' may be a part of it. Depends.

I would explore to my heart's content, establish a medieval village and culture, and then would probably think (at times) that I was sent to hell- cause of lag and freezing!
