The best way to get ppl to see your stuff is to have a few small vendors in high traffic areas with a link back to your main store. At Dangerous Designs in Burandt (32, 48, 137) We have tons of ppl rent space to give themselves just that. Alot of ppl make more sales that way and get their name out. There are tons of minimalls and clubs and casinos that rent out space for that kind of a thing and some (like dangerous) are pretty cheap. The other way is to start advertising on various places like slboutique and slexchange. Or buying add space from metaverse messenger. I have not ventured into advertising for Dangerous yet, but we have had a ton of success when we started by having several little vendors inside already established markets. Hope that helps! feel free to IM me ingame :)

Welcome to Second Life business!

1) BRAND YOURSELF.

Ok, not with a hot iron, but with a name and logo.

Something identifiable, something that matches 'you'. Your own name and profile will inevitably become part of this.

2) If you at all can, get a listing in "Find" - it is inexpensive and effective. A few concise keywords and a graphic applied to your plot help.

If you don't have a proper 'plot' of land, work with your landlord to be listed in the mall's "Find" and/or Classified listing.

"Find" is THE most reliable method of sales that I have ever seen, and the return on investment can't be beat.

3) Post in the classified section of forums here. Free, simple, effective!

4) This is a bit trickier, but get yourself going on SLExchange and SLBoutique. Free and effective.

Place your items into each, stagger the timing a bit and make sure they come up as 'new additions' while the people in the United States are bored at work, and slacking. Just about guaranteed sales! :)

5) Sell the 'space' on your avatar's forehead to the highest bidder, and *really* brand yourself with a hot iron once it's sold. Make sure it is public, humiliating, and painful.

I assure you, this WILL raise public awareness, and you might make $L 63 on the side, too.

Ok, I'm kidding about the searing of flesh. Well, hmm... maybe not... might work!

LOL! I was *seriously* considering this a month or so ago. I could sell ad space on my head for a month at a time...

Place your products in the forum classifieds, www.slexchange.com, www.slboutique.com, www.secondserver.net, and the in-world classifieds listing. Don't think you need to pay thousands upon thousands in the SL classifieds to get noticed, just pay L$50 or the amount that your most popular product costs. SL classifieds are extremely effective even at L$50... the important part is the keywords and the classified picture.

Also consider ad space on sites like slexchange.

When you advertise your product, be sure to provide all the information you can, along with many screenshots, if applicable. State the product's permission settings.

Make sure you provide the best customer service that you're capable of, without actually bending over backwards. Greet visitors, answer their concerns, and take their suggestions to heart. Customer service is *THE* most important aspect of running a business in SL, right behind making the best products possible of course. :>

If you use a suggestion in a new product, credit the person who gave it.

If you had other people beta test your product, credit the beta testers.

If you upgrade a current product, offer the upgraded version free to owners of the older version.

DOUBLE CHECK PERMISSIONS ON EVERYTHING YOU SELL - If you sell a product that has contents within, make sure the contents have the proper permissions as well! A mistake could mean your hard work is suddenly free to the world and you'll see it being sold by the scum of SL in yard sales and "used stuff" stores.
