As far as I know the Lindens don't allow name changes without getting a new account.

I want a name change too and its impossible for me to switch everything to a new account. It would take days to do something like that.

I would just be happy to have a way to supply your own last name as registration.

they should offer it as a pay service. Say 10 bucks gets you a name change.

This has been requested many times, and there have been many serious proposals on the topic. Supposedly Linden Labs is 'looking into the matter'. Eventually, they may allow name changes. At this time, they don't allow anything more than correcting an incorrect capitalization on first names. (Changing 'john Brown' to 'John Brown', for example).
