Hi

I don't understand, why would you create a second life if you let it interfere with your real life by meeting with people in your second life?

Hmm, I think you should reread that sentence... How would you go to a bar and let it interfere with your life? How would you go to that social every night and let it intefere with your life.. :/

Real Life?

Read this somewhat similar thread about taking SL to RL. It's from a slightly different perspective but it should give you some insight as to why people enjoy also meeting in RL.

There's a whole bunch of people I met in another game. We had several eyeballs already.

Meeting someone new online is not very different from meeting people by more traditional means in the sense that regardless of how you first make contact, the two of you are strangers.

The difference is that online has to bridge the gaps of unknown location and unknown gender, while in RL we have to bridge the barrier of hesitation and in some cases awkward meetings.

Apply great care into how you meet people online, be very selective, and you can make quite a lot of new real-life friends.

Are you trying to create a second life for yourself in which everyone does things your way? :D

For all the varied ways people spend their time in SL - and I definitely mean varied :p - that you are perplexed by people choosing to extend friendships from SL into RL when you have decided keep a separation between the two amuses me.

And why did you feel it was necessary to post this to BOTH General and RL Meet-ups?

I brought my 1st life girlfriend into 2nd life. But it turns out she lied to me, she said she could type, but I soon realized she was retarded and couldn't type efficiently at all. She also had no control over her appearance sliders... Well anyway, she's now muted and we've not IM'ed eachother in months.

I'd recommend that people be very careful before meeting their 1st life partners in SL.

God I'm funny. You lot just don't deserve me.

No, really...

We're all adults.

The fact is hearts will do what hearts do if they're exposed to the person they want and need... but the person can be a lie.

If we're all over 18 like we're suppost to be, whats the harm? I'd never finger waggle at someone for taking a chance, its more than most are willing to take.

On that note, I love my mate :)

SL proves it, there are crazy people on the Intarwubs, and I don't plan on meeting any of them any time soon.

Different people want different things out of SL. There is no single correct way.

yep :)

We all have our reasons for being here. Originally when I came to SL I really thought I would choose to keep it completely seperate but then I found that really wasn't my style. I talk to people from SL in skype, on the phone, through email. The one's I'm really close to I feel these friendships are as real and as valued as the friendships I form in First Life. It all blends for me at different degrees for different people. I don't think I'd want to go back to keeping things seperate. But at the same time I respect other's right to do so.

Sorry guys, calm down, I'm just a bit new to all this can't you tell. I was just wondering if and why people meet up on here in real life, that's all. You obviously all have different reasons. Also, i posted this in two forums by accident, like i said, i'm a bit new to it all.
