Ubuntu runs off Debian, if I recall. LordJason's APT tutorial should work just fine. As should ragarth's:

(PS. Turn your PM box on)

There's a couple of tutorials in there already. One of them might work for you.

Heh.

I like Linux conceptually, but it's not ready to be a gaming platform, not yet.

Have to agree with Reitsuki as a split Linux/Windows user for the past year. Linux and cross-platform/open tools like GIMP and Blender have been absolutely invaluable to me for the various projects I have going on.

But when it comes to niche products like SL and games... yeah. EXE only, almost always.

Really, for me, it's about cross-functionality. I'm deathly afraid of the stunts being pulled with Vista, so I have an alternative that runs all my stuff if needed. QED.

Linux is working fine for me as a gaming platform. All it needs is the vendor support.

Full marks to ID, Epic Megagames etc. for releasing decent Linux versions. (even if Doom3 on linux was a little late)

Yah boo sux etc. to Valve for not bothering.

Its kind of funny, but Vista is going to get me to change to Linux almost exclusivly. I've allready got everything cross-platformed on Linux anyway other then Guildwars and CoH. Everything else i've got is Emulator-supported.

Once SL gets more stable on Linux, there will be hardly anything to keep me on a Windows enviroment.
