Having an interesting discussion and out of 15 people not one looks in the classifieds section. Does anyone look at them?

well being some one who advertises in the classifieds all the time i can say that yes people do search the classifieds. when you place a classified you can see how many people clicked to teleport map or view your profile.

Im not a fan of the classifieds, and feel they don't work at all.

My sales Improved immediately after my first Classified ad.
I have since made sure to keep my ad going, And I am happy with the result.
One Noticable feature clasified ads have that "Places" do not is you can type up far more descriptive copy related to your business.
I list my products and my prices. Therefore someone coming to my store knows what they are getting before they hit the TP button.

D'ya know what I would search?
PROFILES
Can you imagine being able to find people based on things they've listed in their profiles, skills they've chosen, picks they've listed, notes we've made about them?
For a platform that touts compelling collaborative social building community support, this feature is sorely lacking.

I wasn't a fan of the classifeds either, till a friend told me that they do work, and pointed out that function of tracking responses.
I've sold probably twice as many houses since I took out a 50L classified.

I put out a 1500 L weekly ad for my business, and I find that classifieds are definitely worth the money you put into them.

If I want to find something ISL and no one I know has any recommendations, I search places first and then the classifieds. Other than that, I never look at them. However, I think they do have an influence and I have found things that way.

From: Jamie David Very cool. Never noticed that function. I've not seen it either... when I can get a reliable in-SL connection (on vacation now, on a 56k atm) I'll check it out. For the record, I run 7 or 8 different classifieds at any given time (varies with the number of outlet locations), auto-renewed (thanks for that, LL! ), set at L$50. Before the auto-renew feature became available I could tell when my classifieds needed re-doing... because of the significant drop in sales. -- Happy sales!

I use classifieds but invert the order so those spending more than 50 lindens aren't even seen.

I don't usually read classifieds. But then, on my computer most shops are lagtraps that seize up in short order.
