how do I join 2 objects together? so they move together, or when I sell them, they are 1 piece...

Select both objects and then select Link in the Tools menu.
There, that's my good deed for the day.

CTRL L. Note that the last object selected will be the "root" prim.
For more info, find the Ivory Tower of Primitives and go through the tutorials there. Very helpful, very informative.
More help is also available in the Building section of the forums rather than here in General.

If you want tons of info on building that is presented in a really clear, easy to understand way, then go to The Ivory Tower of Primitives in game. It's great, I learned how to build there in like two hours.
