Hi everyone I will be one year old on July 22 and want to share a few observations with you all.

Ever since day one of SL I have made it clear that I am a crossdressing gay male in my profile and I expected a bunch of guff from (*words deleted because it was inappropriate of me*) intolerant folks but never got it much to my pleasant surprise. I got a few rude remarks but they were far and few between so I have to say that SL is a welcome place for all types of people including me. It is nice to be treated even better here than I am in real life.

When I was new I also quickly became addicted to building and after months of creating stuff I got bored with that and have gone back to the social aspect of Second Life. Everyone to their own thing I say but SL has been a very nice journey for me.

That is only my experience. Some of you may have had different experiences.

I'm a firm believer in "live and let live," in first life and second.

And happy first anniversary, Rick!

Hi Rick!

After three years of being in SL, I would like to say that the "guff" you expected from those groups mentioned are nothing more then the "tolerant" crowds attacks. In the real world (and even in SL), Christians, Republicans, and whomever else, are not the intolerant jerks that the "tolerant extremist" paint US to be.

I've been a Christian for 24 years, and have NEVER in my life yelled at, criticized, or told anyone else they were wrong for the life or life-style they live. What you will find in SL is more people like myself, who are the true believers in the Gospel of our Lord, and understand that God's love isn't something we need to scream about to anyone. When I first came to my understanding of Christ, I too thought that the masses of those who called themselves Christians were intolerant and unloving, and would never accept me because of my past deeds. I couldn't have been further from the truth 24 years ago. The True believer in Christ, has no need to tell anyone to "turn or burn", or lament you or anyone in how wrong you are for what you do. Jesus Christ wasn't like that, what makes you think the True believers of his are like that?

Anyway, please don't lump us all in a big ugly group of intolerants, like many of the "tolerant extremist" do.

Now that is done, let me say, that for three short years I have been building, furniture to start, now structures, and haven't lost my love for it yet. With the exception of spending time with my loving wife in Second Life, my OTHER greatest joy is building. I too enjoy socializing, but I find when I am standing around socializing, I can't help myself looking at someone's home, in the way it's constructed, designed, etc.

So what's my point, besides quit lumping true believers in the intolerant groups? Well, I guess it's to join you in saying I too still LOVE Second Life, no matter what it is I am doing. My hope is that when you reach your third year in Second Life, that you too will still love spending time in Second Life, and I'll be in my fifth year and still enjoying Second Life with you :)

Oh did I claim somewhere to be tolerant?

It must be tough for the majority to maintain all that perfection while being so persecuted all the time. :) lol

Hi Rick. Yeah it's great, for the most part people in Sl simply mind their own business and don't get too worked up about what other people like to do. Even the vast majority of the "republican/christian/intolerant folks" exercise good manners here and don't go out of their way to push their morals on people who don't share those morals. I've even been pleasantly suprised to find out some people I consider way cool and fun are in fact republicans and/or christians. I think SL goes a far way in breaking down stereotypes of all kinds.

OK, you really need to start your own church. And promote it. And make it very popular.

Oh, hey, thanks so much. It's pretty neat to be lumped in with bigots because of the content of my voter registration card. Let me see if I can help you out with seeing your hypocrisy with some tasty SAT-style analogy:

Republicans are all intolerant/bigots/small minded.

is to

Gay people are all [pick your favorite anti-Gay mischaracterization du jour].

Does that sound at all familiar to you?

so let me get this straight, this guy comes on here, and says "hey you guys aren't the biggest asshats i thought you were going to be". and another chimes in and says "hey no way u knwo the usual ones u say are asshats usually aren't and bless you child"..
and than everyone jumps on the second guy..
hmm maybe you didn't follow that

So it is ok, for someone to have a kink and tell everyone, but NOT ok for someone to believe in God and tell ppl or say they are republican or whatever?

Ok lets get this thread back on track. . . His observations after one year in SL . . . . .

Apparently exactly a year ago he failed to observe the beginning of the end. A year ago I put my Phased Plan of SL World Domination into effect. I provided warning and clues and even ventured in world for a moment to implant mind control devices.

But yet the OP failed to see any of that which means he is completely under my control --- i just love it when an evil plan comes together.

Kilroy,
Implementing SL World Domination while you play. . . . .

I am a crossdressing FURRY male or a (normally dressing) furry female Christian left openminded Make-love-not-war hippy potsmoking bisexual...

Sofar, I only had some flak from anti-furs. SL is very tolerant I have noticed... More tolerant then it seems on the forums. (or is that just me?)

In any case, SL ROCKS ^^
