Home stream audio installation - newbie type query

Am not sure if this is the correct forum - apologies if not.

I have my own house and land. I want to hear strteaming audio - from any of the SL sources - in my home. How do I activate or install please? (apologies for such a newbie question. Audio works fine in palces such as clubs etc.)

Right click your land, select "About Land"
In the media tab there is a space to enter the URL of your streaming audio source.

If you want different music in different rooms in your house you need to split your land into seperate plots, you can then enter a different streaming URL in each plot.

Oh my.... thanks.... and others in house may hear?

Anyone standing on (or flying over) your plot would hear the stream, yes.

If you are looking for something a little more flexible, in my store (co-ordinates in signature) you'll find a 'modern' home stereo that is 3 prims, and contains a 'station changer' script which gives you the option of 12 customisable 'preset channels', all of which can be changed to your own choice of station, and can be expanded if you modify the script (it's very basic). It also contains instructions on how to 'tap in' to Shoutcast streams, of which there are thousands of all music types you could think of (and probably a few you'd never heard of).

When you land, you'll see my building ahead of you. The store is at the front, what you want is on the left hand side inside.

Now... a really stupid and final question... I can get all sort of radio stations to to play on my Real Player.... but what exactly is the URL address of stuff playing? How do I find out... and do I need to put the htttp:/ in the address thingy.. or start www.etc?

You should have the instructions in the script for how to find and insert your own preset channels - if not, just yell me in game and I'll show you how to do it.

I'd recommend Shoutcast and Winamp over Realplayer any day - my instructions for finding stream addresses (which will be in numerical format such as http://217.160.212.15:3024) are based on Winamp.

Streaming in-world is mp3 based. Real Audio streams don't work.
