Hello. I'm new.

Hello, I'm Ryoko Nadir.

So I finally got Second Life downloaded and burnt to a CD for on the go play and I'm so happy that I finally signed up.
Yet, being the newbie I am, I have already lost orientation island on accident and messed up my body proportions to the max.

Now this might all be the "Things to laugh at newbies for" but I really would like to get into second Life and I was wondering if there was anyone here who could help with little orientations and maybe if your nice, scripting.

NOTE: I would like to make clear now that my first account I would like to make is my furry account. So please, if you have a problem with such things or are here to badmouth this decision then please do not reply and scare off a new member.

The best advice I can give you: Use your "Find" button to search for The Shelter. They are in the business of helping brand new folks like you with tips and advice and offer a bunch of free items that you can grab for your own use.

Then hustle over to Yadni's Junkyard. He has months worth of clothing, vehicles, scripts, houses and so forth bundled in $1L boxes that you can grab and play with.

Once you're equipped and feeling more familiar, look in the Events tab for things to do, or just pull up your map and start exploring. Whatever you do, remember to have fun!

There is a public Orientation Island and also the same turorials at Dore.

When your ingame, also check out places like Furnation and the forest.
both can be foound on the Find buttong at the bottom of the screen. search in places for "Furnation" and "The Forest".

You can check out New Citizens Plaza for a good start too, and Ivory Tower for building tutorials.

I do have one other question, and that is, how would I go about getting back to tutorial island?

I fear you may have wasted a CD in burning it. SL gets patched more often than a patchy thing, and your CD will be useless in approximately 6 hours or so when the latest version is released after the current update.

Well, I feel at a loss then. Since there would be no other way to keep the program. Since I dont have enough memory on my whole computer put together.

Seriously.... welcome If you look in your inventory "library" you'll find several 'default avatars' which include a couple of furry ones, which may help you.

When SL comes back up, go to "Help" and select "Live Help", and ask there if they can find you a Greeter, they should be able to find someone to help you. If you are particularly interested in 'things furry', mention that in your live help request and they may be able to find someone with similar interests to show you around.

Other than that, theres been other good advice in this thread I don't need to repeat.

Unfortunately, there is no way to return to Orientation Island or Help Island once you have left.

You might like to visit "New Citizens Inc." - they have many of the same information stations that are present on Help Island and have tutorials about several of the things you've mentioned.

Hi Roxy! This depends on what you mean by "creating an avatar". Do you mean, how do you connect to the world, and make your avatar appear? Or do you mean, how do you design the clothes, shape, and appearance of your avatar?

Making your own avatars can be hard work, but i can give you some free ones and point you in the direction of more, as well as many other area's you can go to to help get your started

you can search for my name in Find, People tab.

But don't worry. I shall look for you when the game is up.

Roxy, the best advice for you is to launch the game and use the Find button to find one of the people who offered to help and ask questions or use the Help menu (I think?) to be able to talk to Live Help and ask the questions.

It's difficult to formulate and answer questions on the forum if you don't know exactly what to ask.

If you're wanting free furry avatars...

There's a small handfull in FurNation Prime (search for that or Luxor, it's right outside Luxor on FN). When you teleport in, hang an immediate left, there's a billboard there with oodles of freebies, including avs.

Also, there's a very nice looking freebie ringtail av you can get at GNUbie. It's made by the fine avatar artists at Luskwood (where I bought my wonderful av). Plus there's clothing, accessories, and other fun things there.

Use the forum search. This has been discussed. This will give you a general feel for it. Return with some specific questions.
