I am a new member and I haven't even seen the second side of my life!!! I have read every post avavilable and I am certian I am configured properly. I get to the dreaded "connecting to region" screen and then it stops forever. I tried leaving it on overnight for a login but it never went!!!!!!!

This sucks....I guess my SL is worse than my real life....;(

Pretty much. I suppose he'll read my post and respond with some actual information, instead of just whining.

<~ SBC DSL, Dallas, 1.5mbps (cheaper, don't need extra right now)
I have the standard 2wire router/modem with my PC on the ether and my roomie on the USB. :D Wireless is disabled.

Last week I was having a slowdown issue with SL. It cleared up over the week that I was offline. Logging in okay from here, but I'm having too much fun finally playing GTA:SA :D

Okay....

Have You reset the D-LINK, or tried bypassing it entirely?

A D-Link? Hard Reset. unless your connection depends on it's settings to run. If It's just playing as a DHCP splitter then you can hard reset it.

Maybe try removing the router from the equation. Stupid I know but trust me..if verizon taught me anything with thier horrible suport it was that alot of stuff THEY blocked.

If you say you Port Forwarded SL's ports, did you forward UDP and TCP ?

'Connecting To Region' stalling is usually because the UDP stream is blocked. Start at the router, possibly the DSL modem. Then call tech support.

I had a D-Link router once, thing was a POS that wouldn't allow me to change any firewall settings. Apperanly I needed to flash the bios on it to fix it, but it wouldn't take the reflash every time I tried. Brought it back and exchanged it for a Linksys. That thing worked great (just make sure you change the security settings inside and you won't have many security issues). Now that I have only 1 pc online its just a direct connection to my nic card.

dlink's are notorious for being fairly crappy - I've never had anything but trouble with them. Part of the problem is they don't complete adhere to NAT / UDP standards.

Are you up to your latest version of the router's firmware? That might help.

Good luck!
