Well, there's no "permissions" forum.
I'm selling a box from a vendor, which has a mix of objects inside it. Some of them are copy no-transfer, some of them are no-transfer copy.
I can't seem to set the box itself to no-copy no-transfer in the vendor's inventory. I don't want people to be able to either:
1. Get the box, take the copy items and give the box to someone else, thus giving them the copy items for free (if the box is no-copy transfer) 2. Get the box, copy it and thus get as many free copies of the no-copy transfer item as they want (if the box is copy no-transfer).
Could either of these happen? The infuriating thing is that I can't test it on my own. (If anyone wants to help me check, I'd be very grateful.)

This is one of the many reasons to have an alt. Anyone who sets up a vendor, or even just sets out items for other people to use, should have a way of testing what they've set up. Even just giving out homemade stuff, it helps to give yourself a test item to see how it works.

get the box itself - the box is the container, to get stuff out they need modify ON THE BOX ONLY.
so you rez it - set it to modify (copy / transfer will probably be set to what you want - I set to transfer)
Put the contents in it... take it to inv
The perms will look all fuckered up - but it will work.. your perms inside will be fine and your perms to take stuff out will be fine.
Get a friend - a good friend - or an alt - someone who doesn't have modify rights on your stuff - and test it with them - pass the box to them - get them to pass it back - see if everything is as it should be

urgh
I'm going to take it out of the vendor and just have it as a box which sells its contents for the moment, until I can really test this.
Honestly... bloody permissions....

AFAIK, copying an item will not copy any no-copy items inside it.

Ok the way this works is, the objects inside the box apply their permissions indirectly to the box. So, let's say you have a no-copy object, and you place it in a no-transfer box. The object will always be no-copy, but transferrable, whether it's in the box or not. The box will always be copyable, but no-transfer, whether it has stuff in it or not. Put them together, and the box shows as no-copy, no-transfer. So, the way this works is, set the object to whatever you want it to be, and ignore the permissions of the container (though I'd set the container to be the same as the object, but it's up to you).

The permissions of the objects inside the box will only apply themselves to it when it is rezed by the next owner.
(I *might* be wrong, but I don't think so.)
