number of accounts

How many accounts can be put on the same credit card? Another family member uses my credit card and he isn't able to establish an acount at second life. I have two accounts, one free and one basic. The other family member wants to establish a premium account with my credit card but SL says it can set a limit to the number of accounts.

I can't remember if it's 2 or 5, but you can contact LL and they'll probably let you have more if there's a good reason for it.

EDIT: Just checked and it's two. Can't comment on how much you'll have to sweet talk them to let you have more.

I technically own 5.

And if it matters, they are split between three people
Two of which are family.
One I use as my main.
This one here I use as my primary alt.
And the last one I own is used for package tests, external cam shots, etc.
And almost all of them are camping in various places around SL. Cept one

I don't know if things have changed since I created them. But if they only allow 2 accounts now, then that would be sad.
Because that cuts off potential players. Even if they may be "alts" they might be used by other people at the same time. If they can't handle that many possible people then they shouldn't have allowed it in the first place.
I haven't checked up on it in some time. I remember reading it was 5 accounts per house hold too. And not per card. But that would mean they go by the addresss on the billing info.

Yeah, the official word (unless they've changed it and I missed/can't find the thread) is 5 per household/ 2 per card.

They say 2 per card, but I had to go through mutliple credit cards (mine and a friends) before I found one that allowed a second acocunt, the other cards wouldn't even give the option to pay to activate the account.

Just thought - open a PayPal account, 2 more accounts without even having to contact LL.

Just another thought, when my roomate joined I was under the impression it was one AV per card, and since he had no credit card... We just went to the local drugstore and got him a $10 prepaid credit card. Because this was back when the basic account wasn't free, and when we had to walk through 10 laggy snowsims uphill both ways to get to work in the morning.

You can buy credit cards in the drugstore? That's scary.

I'm sure half my friends would be in prison for non-payment of bills by now if you could do that here.

Heh, prepaid ones. Yah, it kinda shocked me too when I first saw it... But only prepaid. ;P

Oh, so you can't go into debit on them? That's not nearly so worrying, in fact it's pretty damned useful.

Personally I am not able to multi-task well enough to use more than one identity at a time, so I choose only one, for all time. One is enough for me when half a dozen people are PM'ing me at the same time. besides, RL keeps me very busy and only have time for 2-3 hours a day in SL

What I don't understand is why canceled accounts still count against your totals.

If it counts towards a total, we aught to not be able to delete the account.... or, more useful, one an account is deleted, eliminate it from our totals. This counting deleted accounts really is nonsense.

I'd guess it's so you can't buy first land, transfer it to another acount, cancel the account, get a new one and repeat.

I have more than 2 on one card, but I think I used a unique credit card number for each that the bank website provides for internet transactions.
