Statues wouldn’t be better if they could move. Model airplanes would not be better if they were the same size as airplanes!

I beg to differ. Model airplanes that are the same size as airplanes totally rock. Oh, and speaking of what totally rocks, this totally rocks:

I believe that if you’re a member of our industry you should stand up and take it and say you make games. You shouldn’t wuss out and say you make interactive entertainment.
Don't wuss out and say you're making a "platform". Nobody cares about "platforms", because anything that's got any fucking scriptability (which should be EVERYTHING, and that's something Apple got right early on and nobody seems to notice, because Applescript doesn't look like Shell Script) is a platform. It's so fucking easy to put a turing-complete embedded language into a program that it's really sick and sorry that the fact that Linden Labs has one at all (let alone done such a fucking great job of it... and I'm sorry, all you LSL bashers, LSL fucking rocks) is considered radical.

In the world outside the gaming industry scripting is a fucking right. You can even script your fucking PDA. You can script your LEGO set. People go to insane lengths to script Everquest, and everyone but World of Warcraft it seems has quit even TRYING to seriously keep scripting out.

And once you can script, you can write software, and you have a platform.

So, the fact that Second Life is a platform is boring. Pushing SL as a platform (though it is) instead of a game (which it also is) is like pushing a steak as "a segment of carbonised muscle tissue from an immature castrated ungulate". This isn't "selling the steak instead of the sizzle", this is "we don't even know what sizzle is".

Argent, you should be up there on that stage rantin' with the best of 'em!

As for "moving statues", I beg to differ... claymation rocks!
