Considering reimmersion to grid...

Most of the forum regulars don't know me, but I am considering terminating my SL Sabbatical. I have wandered into the forums to see what's changed - but quite a bit of the same drahma seems to be here (just slight variations from before)...resmods, version point changes etc to name a few new tidbits I am unaware of. I am really considering getting in touch with my Second Life again, but am cautious not to fall into the same rut I found myself in when I left. I was jaded and felt I lost a lot of what had drawn me in to this world initially. I couldn't get enough SL in the beginning, and found the tight knit community to slowly fade into the ether...

So I still own land, and building has been my main draw since I joined. I will continue that pursuit I am sure, but I would like to get some feedback as to what is worthwhile to check out from the public. I also would really like to know of any MAJOR bugs in building so I don't break my mouse in frustration as my 600 prim selection goes skipping across 3 sims...

So if anyone knows of some newer "must see" builds, events, or retailers...I'd appreciate a response as I can see it's no longer a stroll across the main grid. I don't need to see clubs - owned one during the transition to 1.4, and I am all clubbed out. Not into the latest **INGO I'm sure. I love exploring and after looking at the grid/map - I see this huge sea of islands, and really don't know where to begin. What is new - who are the cutting edge builders these days? If an AV needs some new threads and a fresh look - who's the vendor to see (My AV is Maile which used toalways limit the possiblities)?

Thanks!

If you wanted to sell me that City Sim land, I would come back to SL and you could remain safe elsewhere. SAVE YOURSELF MAN!

Jay!! Welcome Back!! *hugs* :D

The city is still doing nicely, and there are SO many new islands and mainland sights to see (others could get more specific than I). The Roadhouse is still a favorite of mine, as is the Elbow Room (if looking for clubs). The shops around the world are getting more and more amazing. Even the unique games in world are really starting to catch on and get attention. Just set out flying and see where you land! There is still no shortage of creativity. :)

HUGS Pen...

Definately avoiding the clubs, and I will be checking out Leck's Roadhouse. With all the private islands, can one really fly and discover as before or am I off on a teleport frenzy? the map is so daunting from the main page. Any good spots you might recommend in particular???

Hope all is well with you hun, thanks for the warm welcome :)

Hey Jay, glad to hear you are returning. You may want to check out our efforts to build our own Infohub in Nova Albion. Lordfly started this thread a while back and we are nearing completion. The new Infohub will replace the Telehub that used to be in Miramare.

Also, please stop by the ancient village I am helping to restore in Cowell. It's just southwest of the Forest of Kahruvel.

Hi Jay,

Cool builds/sims: I like Apollo, Pixel Dreams, Midnight City is always a classic, and Taco for cartoony fun. I like using Snapzilla to check out where to visit next - take a look through Shack Dougal's photo albums on there.

Men's clothing: a lot more options available now. Check out Mischief, Gecko, or peruse the Classifieds forum.

Building Bugs: the latest update broke the tab through fields in the Edit -> Object window. Doesn't look like they have a fix for it in the next update either. This is a royal PITA.

Welcome back!

Thanks to you all for your welcomes and suggestions :D

@Ingrid, we will have to talk again for sure about development! I enjoyed the thought of working along with you on the promenade etc. and look forward to torturing prims again real soon! I should be in world over the weekend...

@Salazar, I will certainly check those references and you and LF have always been proponents of breathing life into Nova Albion. I look forward to attempting to contribute in ways I can.

@Cory, I believe I popped in for a short visit in world when you were in the midst of building on Cristiano's old museum plot, you have a good idea and skills - we will have to meet in world sometime :)

Egads!!! I always build by the numbers and I probably still have all the tab stops engrained in my memory - this truly is a major PITA...

Thanks for the link! Many spots I am unaware of, or had heard of in the past but never wandered through...looks like I have some serious exploring to do!
