Is there a demand for a ShoutCast Server service

Is there a demand here in SL for having a ShoutCast server service? This type of service allows DJs to host their own music at events or allows hosts to broadcast their RL voice during meetings etc (assumes that the DJ has their own music collection, software, adn any necessary hardware - the RL voice thing requires appropriate sfotware and hardware too).

I'm thinking of offering 24hour access to a shoutcast server for DJs to use. The setup would be manual...meaning that you would need to book the time with me directly as opposed to having everything automated in-game.

The approximate price for 24h would L$3,000 for up to 20 listeners at 128K. You will receive a password to use on the shoutast server on the day of booking.

Here's what I need from you -- please answer the following questions:

* Is this service of interest to you?
* How often would you use this service?
* Would you be interested in using this type of service on a regular basis?
* What types of businesses do you DJ (or whatever) for?

Not much demand that I'm aware of. Lemme see an option for a TeamSpeak/Ventrillo server, and we might talk.

There is much demand but I think you will be hard pressed to rent to residents directly. Most rent straight from the owners of the servers and do it outside of SL. If you can do it for less from within SL and give the same controls that I get renting direct from the owner, then more power to you. How you would make it profitable would be an interesting business model discussion.

You can do a find/places search for 'shoutcast' and see that a few people already offer shoutcast services in SL. They even take payment by L$ or US$.

Of course, you'll have to wait until the grid is back online to check.

Dote, wasnt 1.8 suppose to have voice? what happened?
