Grid Attack?

Hey guys.. I just got back to game yesterday.Second day back today and server is down due to Grid Attack? I been gone for a while so i dunno whats this all about seems is been going on for mmore then once... Someone mind explaining to me whats this all about and what exactly is happening?

What part of 'grid attack' is unclear to you?

Someone makes an object that makes copies of itself at an overwhelming rate (200-300 per second). It's not long before the servers crash under the load.

It's happening all too often these days.

I'm new to SL, but if making an object that copies itself is a problem, isn't there some way Linden can block people from creating objects that copy themselves at such a fast rate?

*shrugs* i just dont get why these idiots would do something like this to ruin others fun.Figured i come back to game being away for a while was enjoying my self till i read this = / *sigh* some people need a life.

Sounds like you luckily missed the same kind of thing yesterday, this will be the 2nd time since Friday that the grid has been attacked, and unfortunately it is happening a little too often.

We have a few total idiots on SL that seem to take great pleasure in scripting self replicating objects and dropping them all over the grid, eventually bringing it to a shuddering halt and LL having to close it down while they try and clear up the mess, and get us all back online.

If you have been AWOL for a while (lol) check out the forums and you will see just how often it's happening, seems to be almost every weekend recently( though i'm sure its not, it just feels like it). Whoever these people are they will get what they deserve,one way or another

Not much we can do about it, we just have to wait until LL get's things back online for us, which reminds me i think i'll go do some shopping while the grid is down

If you want to find out where in the forums the threads are about the grid attacks, just looks for the mass of emoticons and whatnot along with a plethora or caps lock titles. Have fun
