Groups

Can someone give me a round about knowledge about groups. What kinds, are they located in certain areas, is there a list of groups, yadda yadda yadda

If you go to your Find button on your UI and then open groups you can either search by a specific name or start with A and scroll thru lists of groups. I think you can also hit the ALL tab and show every group listed.

There are many diverse groups in SL.

Club/VIP groups - specific to a particular club, members join and are notified of upcoming events. Usually joined by an invite of one of the officers of the club.

Land Groups/Rental Land Groups - Created to specifically hold land for a group of avatars or when renting property to have renters in that group.

Merchant/Vendor Groups - Many malls require their vendors to join a group, allowing them to return non grouped members items easily.

Specialty Groups - This can encompass many groups. BDSM, Gorean Cities, Furry organizations, Chess clubs, Slingo Addicts, Greedy addicts, Friends who want to easily talk to each other, Wedding Parties.

The types and possibilities of groups are endless. If you like cheese and want to associate with others who like cheese you could make up a group for that.

Unfortunately until the next update (crosses fingers) everyone is limited to being a member of 15 groups, and all groups must have a minimum of 3 persons. This is evidently (crosses fingers) being changed soon.

Ok, yeah I hadn't noticed the "all" tab at all and was having a bit of trouble seeing what was out there. Do a majority of ppl belong to clubs?

You are quite welcome! Many do, my rule of thumb is go to an club event or even several if you like the club/people/music/events they hold then ask the host for an invite to their VIP group.

Can also find a group that looks interesting, instant message an officer and ask them when their next meeting is.

Some clubs hold weekly discussions, some clubs are strictly 'event' clubs (ie:dancing, hanging out), chess tournaments, poetry readings, bikini sky diving.
