fathers day 50% Off sale NO !

If you have been approached by anyone wearing a store manager badge that has offered you 50% off of a skin I would like to know . This is not limited to Naughty Designs ,but in any store that sell skins in second life . It is very important that the store merchants are aware of this .They need to know if they were a target today while they were off enjoying Fathers Day with their familys . Buying these skins at this discount from a theif is only going to raise the prices and lower the over all selection that is currently available .

This happened in our shop today , and Im quite sure it happened in many .

How would someone be able to offer your skins at a discount from your vendors? Or are you saying the person is selling from their inventory?

And how would it result in the raising of your prices?

They are stealing the skins from our vendors, copying them and reselling them . They are selling them for their own profit .
The prices would be raised because sales would decrease if people started buying stolen skins straight from our own shop .The same reason department stores in real raise their prices when they have a large amount of theft .

Ah.. so they got a skin from your vendor that had Copy and Transfer enabled on it. That is what I wasn't clear on. Was the skin loaded with the wrong permissions, or the vendor just selling too low and they buying multiple copies and reselling?

I think it sounds more like someone is making copies using the 'usual' tools, and then selling the rips off directly in the store of person they stole from, under the guise of "store manager" offering discount. o.O;

Perhaps.. just the whole steal from the vendors didn't make sense.. if there was a vendor exploit, then let people know so they can check their vendors..

No not an exploit. The perms are set correctly . Theives will find a way to get what they want and thats all Im saying about the "how".

The skins in question were not transferrable.

On an alt I actually tried to purchase said "rip off skins" and was sold a box with 12 snapshots and a box with 4 linden skins and 12 snapshots for 3500, what the person claimed to be a greatly reduced price, BOTH boxes said "ND SKINS SALE" and in a Naughty Designs textured Box, He offered a refund and to im him if there were issues. I imed him after we discovered this and he asked me to "stop harassing him as he had sold me the skins"

If you want the name of this person, IM me, I sure as hell won't hesitate to tell you.

ok so let me get this striaght, this person wasnt even selling the OP's skins, just pictures of the skins?

NO. The box, decorated with the stores logo, contains Linden skins & some snapshots. The crooks in question operates in a store wearing a misleading title over their head. We caught someone doing the same thing in our store yesterday.

We too will pass the name of the person doing this on to anyone who requests it in game. We also AR'd them.

Yep, thats about the size off it, after offering a refund when I bought the "skins" he refused to afterwards stating that "He sold me the skins and I was harassing him"

Shame the new SL sign up means that land bans or LL punishment is rendered useless.

Its a complete joke, just made a new post about it. It's getting tiresome now.

If you are approached by anyone in this store claiming or appearing to work here - please DO NOT BUY FROM THEM as I have no staff.

which I have put in my store, as a cube or wall-mounting sign. My land is also set as auto-return after a short delay so people can't put stuff over them.

I have set them to anyone can copy, so if anyone would like to come and take one to put up in their store, you are more than welcome to do so.

Yay Willow. Thankyou for getting so involved and doing everything you have done to help.
Im so happy these turned out to be bogus textures .Unfortunatley, any new person who is'nt familiar with these forums may have gotten scammed and believe the products they recieved were sold by employees of all these reputable stores .

Im still not convinced they have'nt found a way to steal our actual textures though .Yesterday, when I first found out about this I messaged Rain and asked him if he was selling our skins .I think he misunderstood me because he offered to TP me to his location and sell me a skin .
It took me forever because like most designers are at alot of times ...I was nekkie and had to get dressed. I think in this time he figured out who I was . The place he teleported me to was Natural Skins ,he was long gone .

I really wish Id done things differently and called Willow first, had her do a buy before he was suspicious. I looked through his profile and in all of his pics the people with him were wearing designer skins.His profile stated that he was a pirate among other things . This group Mai Tai security really needs to be looked into as they have 12 memebers .Even if they dont have actual skin textures ..12 people can do alot of damage in a short period of time .

Ok seems like he took pics of your skins and sold Linden Base skins with that and snapshots not even a partially good way to go about things as 1 this has no alpha and can create some nasty looking skins and 2 this methodolgy is kind of stupid. If you see this guy ask him to put down the box in question and check its creator. If it is Not the person that owns the store dont buy it. Also check its content and check creator on that as well. I also reccomend just buying the skins that are for sale in store. If the store owner was really offering a father's day discount im sure they would announce it.

This would of been likely to happen regardless of the new registration system. It was bound to happen as they got rid of the basic accounts money. Now you going to have more people scamming because they dont have ANY startup money at all.
