Since some folks seem enamored with the gray textures with white outlines, perhaps an option to see everything in SL as gray textures with white outlines should be made available to allow them to adust the display to their desired state.

This would increase the amount of time available for the system to send proper textures to me.

Or maybe you get the grey with white outlines with a basic account, and need to upgrade to premium to get textures. This would increase premium account conversions.

Or maybe you get the grey with white outlines, and if you want textures you have to pay 10 L$ for each. This would provide a valuable money sink.

Or maybe you get the grey with white outlines, but if you make friends with a Linden you get textures. This would add to options for forum drama on slow news days.

I was expecting to get responses from people who did not grasp the spirit of the post properly.

What a pleasant surprise to instead see this response from Kim Anubis, who understood my post perfectly, and added embellishments in exactly the right spirit. :D

Is this an actual picture of a gray loading texture, or is going to change to something nice if we wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait, like things work in Second Life?

Yes, my witty response is still loading.

Well said, but lets just roll it all up....

Conversion to premium will get you the option to pay $L15 per texture, but a Linden inworld may give special rates of $L10 per texture if they feel you have boot polished enough.

EDIT: The rebate transaction will, of course, only be allowed to happen at InfoHubs, which would also be the only area with free texture loading.

I still say it needs to be an animated green wireframe texture. :D

You are quite correct.

This in not a contrived image, I just ended up in a texture store and followed the instructions on how to see the textures that were available for purchase in the display on the wall.

Someone is paying for the land that holds that texture store thinking that people might buy their textures. When this sort of thing occurs, that is a very mistaken belief. Second Life is not delivering the goods to people who are paying for the opportunity to make money.

Sorry, this is supposed to be a silly sarcastic thread and I got serious for a minute, please excuse me.

Eh. No one's going to bite your head off for being irritable about something like this. Not unless you ask them nicly, that is... :D

Regardless, I'm just curious why this would be happening to some people more than others. Is it a network issue, a user profile issue, or do you hang around the sims that have this problem more?
