has anyone ever tried lowering their land so it is basically a big hole, and using that portion as a basement of their building?

(I know I know we can build up so why build down.... cuz I wanna be different)

besides basement is where the ...... never mind...

Yep, I did just that for my place in Leafroller. I'm on an hillside, and it seemed a waste to put the house on stilts. So, I dug in a bit, built it back up as a stone foundation, and a shiny new basement was the result.

Now, if only I can find a use for a basement...
