So, I'm totally new here, so please bear with me.
I just made a "fireworks" item in the game. It's a rocket that goes up and explodes. Pretty good for my first attempt.
Now, the optimal situation (whether it's realistic or not), is that I'd like to sell these fireworks for some small price per rocket. Like $1L or something. The thought being that people would buy 5 or 10 at a time and use them as they see fit.
My questions are:
1) How do I set up the item so that when you rez it, you aren't rezzing a copy of it, but instead rezzing the actual item (so that it's removed from your inventory).
2) How do I sell these things?
Thanks for any help you can provide. As I said, I'm a total newb, so please be patient with me.
Thanks! Adman

Thanks! Adman Make a 'vendor' (which can be as simple as a cube) and drag the rocket from your inventory into the box. Make sure you have the rocket set for whatever permissions (mod copy transfer whatever) you desire before putting it in the bodx Then on the box, set the sale permissions to "Contents", set the price, and wait for the customers ! You might need to label the box or put up a sign, and possibly put a picture of the rocket or some other graphic on the box so people know immediately what it is. Certainly sounds like a fun thing, when it's up and running I'll certainly come by and grab a few. If I was able to get in game right now I would come and show you, but as I'm stuck on a 56k dialup and Windows 98 right now, my chances of getting into SL at the moment are twice the square root of naff all. But I will look for you if my ISP ever fixes the problem (that has caused most of London to lose broadband capability right now) Lewis

To answer your first question, sounds like you would want to set the permissions on the rocket to me no copy/no mod/transfer. (The transfer will pop up automatically if you set the perms to no copy and no mod - no way around that). That way when someone pulls the rocket out of their inventory, that's it - there won't be another copy of it in their folder.
To actually sell the item, there's a few different ways.
You can create a prim with a selling graphic on it (like a picture of the product, price, permissions, etc. etc.) and place the rocket in the Contents of the prim. If you want to sell, say, a bundle of 5 rockets together, this is probably your best bet. You just put 5 of the no copy rockets in the prim.
On the first tab of the prim's properties, you can either sell a copy of the prim (in which case the buyer will get a copy of the prim with all the rockets inside it, and they have to drag the rockets from the contents of the prim to their inventory) or you can choose to Sell Contents, which will create a folder in the buyer's inventory with the name of the prim as the name of the folder, and the rockets will be inside that folder. This last way is probably my favorite.
If you need help inworld you can check with Live Help or feel free to IM me if I'm around. Good luck!
