I was playing around with *edited*, downloading a bunch of textures in Taber, and came across this image. Does anyone know what that means? I'm curious. Thanks!

Seriously, though... is it wise to be posting a link on the SL forums to a program that allows you to rip any and all textures you come across in SL?

Nah, this is just another one of those negative posts where someone who couldn't actually give a crap about copyright can let everyone know of a cool tool to dig around in other people's private stuff but get away with it by making the post allude to a positive ongoing interest of the rest of us. I fail to see how this encourages copyright infringement. The images are still copyrighted, this doesn't change how 3rd Parties can use them. What are you talking about?

Because it bypasses the SL permissions system (I'm gathering), though you're right, it technicly doesnt violate copyright in any way.

Actually if I'm groking Jarod's modus operandi, I believe he is attempting to draw attention to another security flaw in SL, albeit passive-agressively.

It's not just a flaw, but one that you can't do much about (save through watermarking and such), just as all the copy-protected music CDs in the world don't help against simply sticking a player and a microphone in a soundproofed room.

Ding, ding, ding! You came closest. I'm actually attempting to destroy the SL clothing and texture market as revenge against Jeska putting me in the same Group-Group with Prokofy and Dianne. If SL doesn't take me seriously, I don't see why I have to take them seriously.


Actually, #1 was in the pre-1.2 days, when we got a couple of thousand Lindens per new, referred accounts. I pointed out that you could self-refer as a way to earn Lindens (this was pre-GOM). Kex Godel called me a script kiddie. :~(

My methods are derived from the understanding that "Jarod Godel" is nothing but a puppet for Lindens to amuse themselves with (re: Jeska Linden). If no one takes my ideas seriously, if no one believes my predictions, then no one can possibly blame me when they come true.
