With all the greifing going on...and rude and suspected underaged newbies running around SL, I was just wondering how many landowners were taking advantage of the feature to ban unverified residents to your land? I own Gothinger Forest and Church. I keep it public for everyone to enjoy. But lately its been getting vandalized and people have been hanging around begging for money. (All new accounts of course.) I hate to punish the good for the bad...but its starting to get ridiculous. So...what's everyone else doing about this?

It is a bit awkward explaining to new folks why some can't go certain places now. Many of the landmarks on my current Money Tree notecard are now closed to unverified accounts, so it's come up more than I expected. On the bright side, most of them don't seem to balk at the idea of going thru the verification process to 'fix' it, once they understand what they need to do. Maybe cause they can get a taste of SL first before punching in that CC number.

I hate to punish the good for the bad...but its starting to get ridiculous. So...what's everyone else doing about this? I have about 1/3 of my land banned to unverified accounts. The portion that's banned is the portion nearest my neighbors, who had been getting a lot of unverified griefing them from that land. The rest of my land is still open, but it may not be for long. I've been having griefers using unverified accounts showing up and attacking me on that land recently, as well as having some creepy guys showing up at our (Non-shoreline, prim built.) beach and refusing to leave after being told politely that the gathering going on is private. In my experience, this isn't generally a problem with older, verrified accounts, but for the newer accounts it's turned out to be an issue. Likely from a misunderstanding of SL based on other games, where any part of the game you chose to visit was built and supported by the game company, rather than a private resident.

I would have preferred denying access to avatars under a certain (in world) age. Not because it would help with griefing since they could just sit on their accounts for a few days, but because most of the people I've had to deal with at my house are newbies who haven't yet grasped the concept that most consider their house on SL to be private, or at least not a public place for everyone to come and investigate.
Since they don't understand they do usually end up leaving, but it's clear that they honestly don't get why they can't simply do as they please and end up with a bit of a sour aftertaste. Dealing with it every now and then also isn't much of a problem, but the last week it's been happening enough that I'm less patient and more testy about it now when it happens.

From: Misty Bao well that leaves me out as i dont have a credit card, my credit is too bad and i dont have a job Do you have a debit card for your checking account? Or I've heard that alot of banks are offering prepaid credit card type things where you put a certain amount of money on it. Kind of like a gift card I guess. You could get one and put like $10 on it...and use it. Just some ideas to help people in that situation out!
