Proposal -- Mirrorring of prims...

Well, I was working on building something last night, and I eventually decided that to get the look I wanted, I needed to have a total of four prims to get the look right. I was able to produce one assymetrical prim which would be perfect for my needs and was able to copy it and turn it around to make two opposing corners of my creation. However, for the life of me, I was unable to replicate the creation and create a prim which would look exactly like that one but facing the other direction. It sort've resembled an exaggerated scimitar blade, but with protrusions on the outer face of it, which made it impossible to simply rotate to fit in all four corners.

And so, my proposal is this: Add some sort of tool that will allow a builder to make a mirrored duplicate of a prim on any given plane (X, Y, or Z), such that building with assymetrical parts that need to be made into one symmetrical piece is not nearly as difficult a task as it is now.

I'll send you a tool that was made by the late and great Jeffrey Gomez. It'll mirror your prims for you.

I killed him for making me look crap. I shot him in his virtual ass with a virtual bullet and he virtually died.

Someone really needs to put those in a nice, well-packaged box for newbies for free.

I don't have any of them either or I'd do it myself.

Last I checked Jeffs script didn't do tortured prims - has that changed?

Eitherway - it's a good tool, and one that (like Animation Overriders) SHOULD be put into the main system.

If anyone still needs a copy, send me an IM in-world.

And I think YadNi distributes them at his junkyard. If he doesn't, would you like me to bug him to? :p

That is correct, sir -- it hasn't changed. However, mirroring in the offline builder will (potentially) do all that. Once I uhh... have time to finish it. :o

Could I get a copy of that prim mirror tool? Or information on where one is available ingame?

Musuko.

so much for the idea of rebuilding it as a protected version (a few safeguards added for the sake of making you look good Jeffrey =)...

but then again I was looking at making a torturing version (can't be 100% in all cases though), including all the other fun things like textures and other goofy settings....

all of which is resulting in a very large headache...

eh, why not, I'm a masochist.

PS I have no idea when I'll be done/give up... don't ask =P
