they are just implementing..

I am HAPPY they appear to have fixed the texture picker.

I do have one question though..
My account is missing 20K worht of L$, did it just cost me 20,000L$ to log into the preview grid?
Will my normal grid account be the right amount?
has anyone else experienced this?

ADDIT:
i also just loged intothe V12 preview and I am being asked to sign a new tos:)
and the msg for the day was..
"Welcome to 1.12 Preview, remember no land , currency or tier / account changes on preview will affect your Main grid account."

The preview grid only has play money; it does not reflect your actual account.

I'll be amazed if you can log into the preview grid at all.

I like to log into the preview grid just to give my money to some stranger. It's great fun!

The money you have in preview has nothing with the money you have in game. When you come back onto the regular grid all of your money will still be there.

Preview grid money is like monopoly money. It's not actually worth anything, it's just something that LL puts there for people to use in testing out vendors and the like, since nothing done in the preview grid "sticks" when you change back to your normal account.

And since the preview grid is only play money, I test textures there;) No hit to the MG account at all!

I spent a good part of last night logging in and out of the preview grid to upload a texture for a pair of blue jeans I was working on.

Oh thanx so much for that information:))
I feel a whole lot better now:)

I take it then anyting built inpreview cannot be ported to main grid then?
but you do take your objects in your inventory to preview?
WOuld this be a correct assumption?

When you click the eyedropper icon, your cursor will change into an eye-dropper. Then, when you click on the side of any prim, it will give you the same color. Note: it gives you the color value the side of the prim is set to, not the color of an applied texture or anything.

No, I'm on the belief that despite Joshua Lindens assurance that the 1.11.0 preview is open to all, it still refuses to allow me to access it and am wondering if access is still being join date restricted, valid question when you consider both her and myself have July 2006 join dates showing and my access is still denied.

Yeah, I also joined this month and can't access the preview. :/

The Preview is based on a recent snapshot of the database, so if you joined SL after the snapshot was taken you won't be able to login as you quite literally don't exist!

However with regards the 1.11.0 preview grid, Joshua Linden stated it was open to everyone, and yet it seems this is not the case.

Likely 'open to everyone' in the sense 'everyone who had account created at the moment last snapshot of database was taken'. It's a normal thing with test servers and MMO, they can be quite delayed in comparison to 'live' server due to all work involved with mirroring the database.

I know of MMO's where the test server accesses the user database that is held on a separate server to all game servers and do not restrict access by length of time since joining - this system of the Lindens and the suggested reasoning behind it is as bugged and faulty as their patches.

Are you saying these MMO's are keeping down-to-1-second-up-to-date mirror of the live server database? I.e. as soon as you create account on live server, it's reflected in the test server database and you can log in there?

I'd like to know name of such MMO. Because it's quite a pointless waste of resources to do it this way....

edit: wait, i misread. You are talking of separate database, meaning when someone creates test account they are starting completely with no connection to their character on the live server? In case of SL it'd mean there's no way for people to test things they built on live server, but to rebuild them from scratch on test. That's not very effective, tbh...

didn't notice that before thanks for the fyi there.. but it's wierd how it says joined in Jul 2006 when i really joined in Jun 2006... maybe the vbulletin database doesn't sync properly with SL's...

and how frequent are these views/snapshots taken?
