Heya... ok i talked to Deana Linden earlyer about an issue... and she gave me the phone number to the LL support. They one problem is i live in Europe and i dont feel like making long distance phonecalls because its rather expencive. The other day i was in livehelp and someone from Europe got an issue as well and i said to call the support... and the person said that He/She wouldnt/couldnt because of the european location. However that person said to me, it should be an option to call via skype to the LL support because alot of SL users use skype as well. and at the time i didnt really think about that. but now that i got an issue myself and would like support i actually think its a good idea. LL skype support!

I dont know, Skype's quality tends to be one notch below 'terrible' in my experience (poor quality connection, long delays in conversation). Although that being said, LL uses it internally.

Not even when im running SL. I use Skype daily too, and I find it variable. sometimes it is good, other times it is terrible, but usually logging out and in again will cure the terrible. I have used Skype out via another user to call LL and it worked just fine. Cali

Pathfinder has rented a Ventrilo server for educators to use; I've found Ventrilo to be the best voice chat solution out there, bar none (after the horrid initial set up required).
Perhaps LL's support team should get a Ventrilo server that people could hop onto. It already has Windows and Mac clients with a Linux client under development (and I think that's an honest statement, as they have a Linux version of the server out already).
Regards,
-Flip

I've been using TeamSpeak for a couple days for the FIC crowd. To be honest. If the SL's implementation of Havoc were actually a voice chat engine, that's what it would sound like.

I've only had good experiences using Skype (certainly better than my normal phone).
I think this is a good idea. Okay, even using SkypeOut to call LL isn't *that* expensive, but it would be good for LL to offer a Skype contact point as well.

skype-to-skype sound quality much better than phone, especially if you use a two-ear headset.
I'm sure other VOIP systems are just as good or better technically, but skype seems to have a critical mass

You know, I've um'd and ar'd about using skype in my RL business for better customer contact and then I realised that if you give people a way to contact that doesn't even cost them in phone charges then they're more likely to (a) phone more frequently and (b) spend longer on the phone. The last thing my company needs is that. They already phone for the most ridiculous reasons already

There's a pay version of Skype where you can call regular land or cell lines, called SkypeOut. http://www.skype.com/products/skypeout/Global rate is 0.017 Euros/minute.

I use Skype daily and the sound quality is usually higher than with a landline. For the rare drop in quality, closing and reopening the application fixes it.
I dread the day this goes pay for ISP to ISP.
