New Sport: Land Swooper Fishing

i see a lot of land swooper complaint posts. these guys r teh suck (teh land swoopers)

i wanted 2 see how bad the problem really is and have some fun at teh swoopers expense while i did it.

so i came up with "SWOOPER FISHING"

i went to a small piece of land i own and set it up with a kool landing point.

then i set it for sale at L$1, counted to 4 and unchecked teh "for sale" box.

sure enuff, a swooper TPed in. they looked confused when the land wasn't really 4 sale.

i took their pic, froze them and sent them home:

teh funny part is they came back and bounced me, which gave me something concrete 2 abuse report with.

i know this doesnt help those who got ripped off, but i thought maybe the forum would get a chuckle.

so now swoopers, b4 u grab that super sweet L$1 deal ... know it could me me .. waiting to make an ass out of u and waste ur time!

We are not all bad people Ravenous, and there are legitimate great deals that come up! I have bought several small lots for $L1 and sold them as well, all legitimately. If I don't get them someone else will. So hate me if you will and take my pic if you need to but I'm not a bad person, I'm just a person trying to make a few bucks in the legitimate land business arena

I'm curious.. maybe you could explain under what situation selling a plot of land for 1L$ is ever not a mistake? Also how are you finding the land fast enough to "swoop"?

I personaly have sold off 16sqm lots for a buck just to get rid of them! Why others do it I have no clue but they do, and bigger lots then 16sqm as well.

Most land buyers are not swoopers. Since P2P was implimented, land buyers can directly TP to cheaply priced lots, only a matter of seconds from the time land is set for sale and
the time it's bought.

For some reason, people giving land to a friend typically set it for $L and set to "anyone", presumably not anticipating numerous avatars pile-up over the next few seconds. Swoopers buy and retain it, but most respectable land buyers would return the land.

bargain is not swooper. If he got mad at you... well.... afterall you set the trap. He certainly didn't respond angrily here.

I'm sure that starting a thread to target/link a group/resident is bending the forum rules.

I had sold 1024 sq, of land before for 1 L. hmm maybe more than 1 K of land.

I t was placed for 1 L to dump it before I had to worry about tier costs for the next month.

Since having to 'up a tier' to cover a departing housemate was the reason I was selling to begin with, and that I would dump it for cheap to the needy if I had to , the fact a swooper scoffed up one of my lots for a dollar in fifteen seconds wont kill me. However I just found the swoopers actions so distasteful and unethical that I just want to spit! If someone points out the fact that the sale was in error, then the proper thing for a decent person to do is help out the 'idiot' who made the error. Not just take the property and run, refusing to even answer your IMs. This gives real estate enthusiasts a bad reputation. That money is all that matters, even at the expense of those who share your secondlife. People like you who are here to enjoy the game and all its wonders. Take advantage of your fellow players? Thats like the creep who took advantage of the fact my RL windows were made of glass and broke in and stole my entire DVD collection last week. (350+discs) Im sick of being prey to these people of zero conscience. Screw em all.

There's a simple solution to all this talk of "Land Swooping":

DON'T SELL YOUR PROPERTY FOR ONLY $L1!

Seriously. As soon as you obtain a nice piece of property, set the for sale price to something around a trillion zillion dollars.

Now there's an interesting thought. Running around shooting people in public is not nice, but you can set your own land to not safe and shoot whoever you want on it, right? (If you kill them, it just TPs them home.) So, stand around with your favorite submachine gun and set the land to something ridiculously cheap. Then shoot anyone who TPs in. See how long you can keep this up before someone manages to get in and get the purchase done quick enough. It's a contest -- fastest swooper gets the prize! <evil grin>
