Hi out there, well, I have signed up.. I have a name.. I have an avatar, but now what do I do, is there something I should download, how do I go to a world... I have nooooo idea!!
Just a little hint to get me started, nothing to complicated please.

But if you say its needed that is what I will do... cause this Second Life sounds interesting

I'm new as well. I've only been playing a little over a week, but these ppl around here are the best! Several ppl have helped me tremendously and therefore I'm hooked already! Just take your time, and don't let it overwhelm you. Most of all....have fun!!

They should not make the SL client something that's need to play the game. Hell, the forums are just fine.

Why play the game, when you can play the forum!

No problem, but its gonna take a while to download, and I want to make a start.

Once I download the program, I then have to install it I guess, hopefully after that its a little easier.

I love the forums, already my mind is spinning. (but in a good way)

No not on dial up, I have broadband, but I dont think broadband is as good here in Australia as it is over the other side of the world. Its taken about 10 minutes to download already, but nearly there..... this is exciting.!!

System requirments (http://secondlife.com/corporate/sysreqs.php) say that you'd need:

From: someone

* Internet Connection*: Cable or DSL
* Operating System: Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
o OR Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4)
* Computer Processor: 800MHz Pentium III or Athlon, or better
* Computer Memory: 256MB or better
* Video/Graphics Card**:
o nVidia GeForce 2, GeForce 4mx, or better
o OR ATI Radeon 8500, 9250, or better

So if everything is around that or better you'd be fine.

Well.. I am in the world, just walking around learning stuff.... its all working, it lags a little, but its okay.

Thank you all for your help... I could not have got there without you.

I will report back soon on my progress, and any hints I can think of for other newbies

See if you can get ADSL 2, if you find you really like SL, and aren't locked in to a contract. It makes a huge difference. I'm paying the same price as normal broadband.

I'm Australian, so if you need someone in your timezone to answer questions, just IM me, SL can be a bit quiet in our evenings.
