Wednesday Updates

I'm new to SL as of January, invited here by several of your residents, one in particular whom I enjoy spending a limited time with. This brings me to my problem. He and I share time on Tuesday mornings for a couple of hours and then again on Wednesdays. Our window of opportunity on Wednesdays begins at 6:00 a.m SL time until 3:00 p.m SL time. However, therein lies our biggest obstacle and problem. With every Wednesday, and the standard 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. SL time being reserved for SL updates, our day is shot.

I can understand how any other resident on any other day can have this same problem and I'm sure ours is not unique to the SL family. I propose however, that the times for updates on Wednesdays are staggered. Some Wednesdays, we miss out seeing each other the better part of the day, however on other Wednesdays, because the time is staggered we could in essence get a bit more time and eventually, there would be days where our time would go completely uninterrupted as the staggered time would be in others time zones. This seems only fair and would give everyone the opportunity to enjoy a Wednesday off, if that is their standard off day.

Please, Governor Linden, won't you consider those of us out there who are severly constricted by this unbending schedule, to loosen your update times just a bit. It would certainly enable me and my lover more time together, as I'm sure it would others, without penalizing anyone group or nationality to interrupted time. :)

While there may be a hole in my logic, I would invite any explanation as well as be thrilled at any consideration you might bring.

Get an IM client. Use that instead.
I know, but wedsday mornings = less average users. It sucks.
Idunno. I work during that time, so Idunno.

My day off is Wednesday and believe me when I say I have already complained about this being the only update day. I always had this day to be able to see my Partner as I don't see Him as much as I would like due to a 5 hour time zone difference. Up until a few months ago, updates were on random days which was more feasible as it didn't effect the same people every time an update was done. I was pretty ticked off when they decided to make it on Wednesdays because it was totally out of the blue and has ruined many plans I have had. I understand why they don't stagger the hours of the updates because they are located in California and I'm sure no one at LL wants to come in at 2 am to do an update.

There's really nothing that can be done about changing the days as it has been said many times that it is more convenient for LL to do it on a Wednesday. Even though to me it would make more sense to do it on a Monday or even a Tuesday so there is the rest of the week for any bug fixing/reupdating.

But yeah, it sux and there's nothing we can do to change it....just gotta grin and bear it.

Without knowing all the facts, I suspect Wednesday is a good day, because it allows the staff a couple days to prepare the grid for implimentation and a couple days the fix what they broke.

Then comes the weekend.

They are valid complaints. Deal with them. i've given up on LL listening to them though (not that I won't bitch) because I've already seen how deaf they are on the resmod program...

So in essence, what I'm hereing is, maybe their making so much money, that those who can really only play on Wednesdays....are disposable. :(

All I know is, I came here to be with someone and Wednesdays and Tuesday mornings are the only windows of opportunities I have. Not having the largest bulk of our time...every week, will mean a great many things to us as a couple.

I wouldn't say "disposable", but this sort of decision has to be made according to the least number of people who it will inconvience. For the bulk of the SL-using world, that appears to be Wednesday. (I have Wednesdays off from work, so while I can get onto SL a bit every night, I'm in that inconvienced group as well.)

Just be glad they only do it every other Wednesday, and exchange IM names.
