Check which you would prefer, if we got to fix the classifieds the way we want.

P.S. I just checked Vbulletin's forums and learned that yes, the administrators can turn off the rating (star) system in each forum.

I also found reference to the fact that the default users needed to cause a thread to show its rating is two; but in another place they said five. In several places, they said that the number of people required to rate a thread can be set at a number determined by the administrators.

I like the comment/nobump idea. They'd only have to turn the reply option back on and set those forums to sort by original thread date rather than last post date.

We have been down this tired road many times, my friend. The forums software does not support it, yet Cocoanut will still poll about it.

No Linden has answered my hotline posts about what the forum software will and will not support. What other residents have said regarding that has been contradictory. I have summarized these findings elsewhere.

Given no Linden answer as to what the forum software will and will not support, and contradictory information from those who researched it, I will go ahead and list all these possibilities as if they were possible. If one isn't possible, the runner-up choice may be.

My thoughts as well, except I was looking for the Option: Gone :)

I should have put "gone" as an option.

() Whichever option will stop you posting thread after thread about them - because at this point I think you'll just continue until you 'gather' the 'opinon' that matches your own.

That is not true. I put a simple thread - ONE THREAD - on the issue at hand. I should have made it a poll in the first place! Now it is!

Imagine if my dissatisfaction with pepperoni worked the same way.

Topic Names:

"Pepperoni: Way Too Salty"
"Should we make pepperoni less salty?"
"Your thoughts on Pepperoni Saltiness Reform?"
"Poll: What do you think of pepperoni's saltiness?"
"I hate pepperoni. It's too salty."
"Salty Pepperoni: Where We Are Now"
"What do you think about the Pepperoni Problem?"
"DOWN with salty pepperoni"
"Poll Regarding Salty Pepperoni: How salty would you like it to be?"
"Pay Attention to Me: I don't like how salty pepperoni is."
"PEPPERONI"

If you don't CARE about this issue, Enabran, just overlook it! It's easy! You don't have to keep on about how it is that you don't care about it and I do!

Oh my stars it's true. The manual's pretty worthless but from here you can apparently only "sort by Thread Title, Thread Starter, Rating, Last Post, Replies, or by views."

What a gaping oversight.

You know I'm not great on this technical stuff. But from what I learned when we were discussing the comment/no bump option, was that the code would have to be "hacked" to do that, and that would prevent support from vbulletin. But then it was also said that LL already "hacks" the vbulletin code all over the place, so that would not be a concern.

I couldn't find anything further from my perusal of the vbulletin boards, except I did find a place where they said you could do comment/no bump. It didn't say, though, that this would cause loss of support from vbulletin. So I tend to go along with what was reported in the paragraph above.
