Lost my ZHAO

Somehow I managed to drop my ZHAO in my shop on Mill Pond. I have turned on the "show transparency" option, dug through the basement and attic, checked my trash (first thing I did), no luck. Any tips? There were some no-copy anims in there. :( Never buying no-copy anims again! mean ol' anim designers... ;)

hit CTL-3 to enable edit window and drag a square in the area you dropped it you should be able to find it
sometimes especially outside it helps to use debug to turn off srfacepatch rendering

You can try using that Show Updates thing in the View Menu too. Or somewhere. It lets out some particles showing which objects have scripts, etc. And try going back to the spot where you dropped it and spin your cam around, it can been seen from only certain angles. It's worth a shot ...

You can use "Select only my objects", and then drag out a square to find anything you own.

Another way is to ask the land-owner to return anything that belongs to you, and you should hopefully find it back in your lost+found folder.

and if none of the above work, you can still get a localisation script to point at it with particles or map beacon, and a sensor.

And if all else fails you can always get a Linden to come find it for you.

A bad*ss former Independent soldier for whom I named the pump action 12-gauge shotgun under my bed.

oh, you mean ZHAO!

It's an animation overrider that you wear as a HUD. It's nicely done, I like it lots except when I drop it, which I've done twice. The last time I found it easily. This time, I dropped it in my store, which I built, which means I'm surrounded by dozens if not hundreds of things that I made (though I'm not the landowner). So asking the owner isn't really an option. :(

Can you really ask a Linden to come help?

you might also want to invest in a Scan-Foo Device for finding lost objects. I've had to use it recently to locate invisaprims that got stuck in floors and with LL fixing the alpa/select object functions it's been a life saver wheres the mouse over wont register now on invisaprim or some tranparencies making them harder to find and grab ( invisaprims wont show up with Ctrl Alt T btw)

Yes you can. That last upgrade caused a certain JEVN user's servers to "disappear". They did not show up with highlight either. I recommended he im a Linden and tell them what happened. The Linden did find his servers for him (they were not where he had put them) and all is well now.

While your ZHAO most likely won't be a top priority, I'm sure as soon as someone has a moment they will come help you. They are usually pretty good about doing that. Just do a search for an online Linden and im one. It may take a few for them to answer. It's worked for me and others. Just be sure to explain the whole situation to them so they know having the land owner do a return is not an option.

She found it with Scan-Foo, nowhere near where I dropped it. Now I can't attach it (keeps saying I can't attach multiple objects to the same spot but nothing's attached there) but that's a whole nother issue. Thanks also to Kokoro the pixie who tried to find it as well. mwah!

How does this work? When I use it I can't see that it makes any difference and what does drag out a square mean?

I am trying to find 12 objects at one of my places that belong to me and aren't group owned and have been searching for them for over a year now. :)

Try dumping your cache and retry attaching it.... dump cache by Edit> Preferences> Network and click Clear Cache and relog into SL :)

Susie, send me an IM in game. I have a tool that might help you find the stuff, I would need to be present, but I'd be willing ot help you search for a bit.

MeiLin, same deal, need help, ask, and I'll swing by.
