I do custom building. Depending on the job, its sometimes fun, sometimes just work. Noticed the exchange rate on $Ls to dollars went from 300Ls to $1US just last month to 347Ls/$1US when i cashed in some earnings today. Now thats some nasty inflation. Not wanting to get into a fight over what causes inflation in SL, plenty of threads about that. However i am beginning to think its just not worth having land for a workshop/paying the land tier if what i earn is going to drop in value so fast. Ls losing 1/7 of their value in a month, thats NASTY inflation. Makes trying to earn Ls kinda pointless. Just not sure i want to spend the time and effort to make something that becomes worthless that rapidly.

Continually convert your L$ into USD at daily rate rather than wait months with that. Then your earnings aren't really affected by what exchange rate at any given day happens to be... |

Just not sure i want to spend the time and effort to make something that becomes worthless that rapidly. Then don't. Seriously, Second Life is a computer game which you should play for fun and pleasure. When it becomes driven by profit instead of fun, you've lost the point of playing. If you really must try and make a living off of SL, just adjust your prices to suit. The figures are all there for anyone to see, and it didn't drop from 300 to 347 overnight. Have fun. That's why SL exists. Don't believe the fake advertising about making thousands of dollars a month, that's just marketing hype and unattainable for the vast majority of the population. There's also a few misguided capitalists around here too, don't worry about them, their medication hasn't kicked in yet today. Lewis _____________________

Yes, i do intend to cash in earnings every time i recieve them in the future. And no, i dont really build to make a profit, just to pay tier and game fees. One point about the figures being there for all to see, yes the exchange rate and changes in price For That Day are shown. I suspect the Lindens would never have a graph showing the change in price for Ls over a month or 3 months, ect, cause that would be a line straight down.

Actually, they already did ^^;; https://secondlife.com/currency/market.php click 'show 90 days' or 'show all' under market data... you can see how exchange rate moved over time. |

It appears that the Linden has found its trading range finally, so I don't believe you'll be seeing the kind of rate change we saw in the past.
Oh, one other point, be conscious of how you sell your Lindens, understand what it means to market sell. |

Try a Limit Sell, not a market sell - this way you set your own price, rather than sell at the best buying price. The difference is about 17L/$, so it's significant.
LL decided it would be fun to turn off Limit Sell under default settings, so now you have to go to https://secondlife.com/account/currency_settings.php and select Advanced. _____________________
