So, I've been out of Second Life for quite some time now (vacation, yay!), and I'm just wondering if there have been or are any sort of regular building contests in-world.

I know Edifice Rex used to have some, and that they don't anymore, and that there have been other attempts, but is there anything going on with any regularity anymore?

And if there isn't is anyone out there interested in establishing something along these lines with (or hell, without!) me?

I just discovered Primtionary is on Sundays & Wednesdays. Can't remember who hosts atm, but it should be in the events list. You can borrow my machete to hack your way through it.

Primtionary and other building contests...
01-09-2006 22:24
The Primtionary events are the great! Yummi Olsen hosts on Saturday at 4pm and 7pm on Wednesdays. Great crowd and lots of fun. I think I've been to one or two hosted by Aliasi Stonebender as well. Show & Tells are alot of fun, too.

I've also been asking around about other building contests. A lot of folks know of other contests that used to happen, but nothing current.

I've been toying with some ideas for hosting my own contests. There must be a lot of people who are looking to do something fun with their building skills..

Yes, Aliasi has Primtionarys, I think every Tuesday, dunno what time (care to correct me someone?).

I used to have Show and Tells every Sunday @ 2 PM game time. I'm taking a break in January, hope to be back in February.

The positive thing is the many people who use to attend the show and tell, the negative is the polluted events list, which doesn't give you much chance to reach out and get many new people who would be interested :-(

I would like to see a 'non profit' events list thus getting rid of all yard sales, casinos and such...

wow, 5000 lindens? that's a pretty fat lot of cash for a contest with no entry fee. How is it supported?

Its been coming together very slowly, but Dolmere Talamasca has been working on a 'Building GameShow' to add to our lineup of shows at the Shelter.

He's Beta'ed it a few times so far - but there's still a few bugs to squash. If this is something a lot of people are interested in, I could probably stoke the fire a little bit under Dol's arse to knock the rest of it out. :D

Particles in the ice?
01-10-2006 11:46
Is it ok to start a little particle system on the ice sculpture if the script is deleted before judging? (I'm not talking about fireworks on ice, just a little extra sparkle)

I'd love to see this! Need a lighter? ;) I could even lend a hand with testing, or what-have-you...

Zonax: Your Show & Tells are fantastic! Please come back in February. It's worth showing up just to see the opening presentation. Hehe
