Do you fly without a scripted flight assist or do you use a jetpack, rocket belt, ROAM thingie, or what?

I use a jetpack Malibu, mainly for assistance on high-altitude builds and because its really kinda fun.

I can't imagine doing unaided flight now. It is just too slow!

But when I started I went a long time without flight assist.

No gray textures, fly slow, not flying to get somewhere, the flying and seeing the sights was the activity, not a means to get to a place.

Heh heh, no p2p, no telehub down by cordova, the only sandbox sim - had to fly from ahern or teleport to oak grove and fly down.

I still use either the old well known flight assist i got back then, or else the ROAM thing.
What are the other choices and what's the difference between them?

Heck I walk

I really do... I get a real sense of "space" by walking around and see details I usually would miss.

flight assist can crash my computer.

I don't use flight assists. If I want to fly fast I'll use a vehicle, if I want to build high up I'll use a nonphys vehicle. Like Blueman I like the sense of space and place.

With all the 200m high walls, I can't fly unassisted anymore. Even our sparse little neighborhood has become a nightmare of an obstacle course ... and you can't see the obstacles until you hit them!

Visiting neighbors has become quite a frustrating exercise.

I'm now using my still-in-development flightpack so that I can fly stably at altitudes above 200m.

EDIT ... 300m. Walls are land height + 200m.

I only use them when I'm trying to do work above the normal flight limit, one that lets you manuver with chat commands so you can move without losing camera focus. Candidie LeMay makes it. IT's fine for what it does but it's not a general purpose gadget for flying around.

I'm always in the sky, so not having some kinda flight assist sucks. Right now i'm using the Multi Gadget, and its pretty damn nice. Has different speeds, etc.

Nothing blows worse than losing selection on a linked bunch of objects because you fell off the edge of your floating skypad :/

I generally don't use flight assists. When the need presents itself, though, two clicks is all I need to toggle on my custom one.

I have Cubey's speed spork script in my hair, it is usually on setting 1.
Not very fast, but it's get me above the flight-limit when needed. And by putting it in my hair, which i never change, it is allways ready when i need it. :P

I use a flight assist that pretty much only allows me to fly up to unlimited height. Otherwise I wouldn't even know I'm wearing it.

Any faster and I'd crash into unrezzed buildings (more often)!

I use my buddy Jim Windang's Niblet Forcer when I want to fly. I am usually aiming to hit 1.5 Million meters when I fly, and this thing launches you up without a problem..

I also use it when I want to skydive from higher than 4000 meters ;)

When I want to fly high or fast, I have a set of scripted wings that give a high-altitude speed boost. Ther were a freebie set that I picked up as a newbie, and re-textured to match the golden wings that my Avatar should be able to manifest.

Argent Stonecutter's Flight Feather is packed into at least one of my attachments at all times.

I also have Cubey's Speed Spork attached at all times. Since I live and work at around 300m, it is a necessity. And best of all....it's a SPORK!

I use my own HUD Jetpack all the time. I don't know that I could make it without flight assist anymore, honestly. I spend an inordinate amount of time over 400 meters AGL.

I pretty much wear Enabran's "Crusader" HUD all the time. One of its features is flight assist, which I keep on the lowest setting.

Use a jetpack. flying without assistance is just kinda irritating.
