Want to get people to stay on your land for a while? Set up some public particle generators that will spit out the script for them when they are done. It takes time to tweak the particles the way you want, so they are guaranteed to stick around for a while.

On that note, i think a a particle device that responds to people around it and makes cool effects and colors, will encourage people to hang around and tp friends, just to see what sort of effects happens when 40 avies are near.

Yeah, that would be cool, too, and would sure be more fun than the chairs.
And people might just actually, gasp, learn somethin'! ![]() _____________________

Without our DI check the end is plain to see... To keep our club alive we must think laterally... Our daily dwell must increase exponentially.... We must find, 50 ways to lag a clubber... 50 ways to lag a clubber.. So rez some physical prims Jim.. Now set em to light Mike... Go stream in some porn Shaun.. Are you following me? Res a partical ball Paul, Go put on your Hair Claire! Start the dance machine Jean.. Bring that framerate to 3.... _____________________

Saaz Roentgen had one in Welsh, but it's way up in the air. Xylor also had a particle lab in Grey, waay back in the day... didn't he release that when he decided to open source everything he had?

Want to get people to stay on your land for a while? Set up some public particle generators that will spit out the script for them when they are done. It takes time to tweak the particles the way you want, so they are guaranteed to stick around for a while. I have one of these at my shop (link in sig) that does exactly this. It's low prim (7 prims, I think), supports all the options, outputs a complete and nicely formatted call to llParticleSystem() when you've got it how you like it, for L300. It's quite popular. Considering how particles start to sputter when lots of people are using them in the same area, I don't see the appeal of a public particle farm. Especially when you add a nice big bowl of lag on top of it from lots of avatars and whatever other 'public area' junk happens to be around. Also, unless your 'public area' is also a sandbox, I personally wouldn't be fond of teleporting back and forth (even with P2P, mm, rezzing) between my build and your generators. _____________________

Actually. That'd be handy. I'd also like to see some large scale multi-user puzzles.
But... that might be a ways off. So I'm going to just make a squad-based combat system along with stuff to shoot up. |

Here's a better idea, HUD particle system generators ![]() That's an interesting idea, but would the particles themselves still be visible to everyone else? Seems like they would, but it'd be interesting to find out. I'll have to make a quick conversion of my generator after work and try it. _____________________

I'll have to make a quick conversion of my generator after work and try it. Regardless of how the HUDs behave, you could still send the parameters to a public display and have multiple users collaborate using HUD attachment for the user interfaces. _____________________
