I wanted to show a friend some of the most beautiful/land/city/buildings/shops ect in SL and had a hard time just using search. Lots of Adult clubs/open air mall type things came up, but im looking for that something special, that really shows off the talents of the community.So......can we have a list of what everyone would show off tho their friends?
Thanks

My personal favorites are:

The Lost Garden's of Apollo - A beautifully created sim, and something I feel everyone in SL should see at least once.

Nakama - Anime city sim, complete with stores, tentacle monster, and so much more. This sim is great for exploring just for the fun of it, and it's a marvel of anime styles in SL. Excellent work, and a must for any anime fan.

Nexu Prime - One of SL's original and best science-fiction Cyberpunk themed sims. An amazing build with amazing detail. So much to find and discover. Highly recommened.

Devil's Moon - Changed my mind on this one. The poor and childishly rude behaviour of one of those associated with this sim has made me rethink my opinion of it. I can not honestly recommend it any longer despite how pretty it is.

The Independant State of Caledon - Caledon is made up of five sims now and is an amazing cummunity. A build of Victorian steampunk influence that is entirely created by the residents who live there rather than by a single visionary hand. It's a masterpiece of what can be acheieved through community and dedication I feel, and populated by wonderful and friendly people. There is so much to see and explore it wouldtake days, and if you love steampunk...this is your sim.

Temenos Island - Yes, this is my own sim, and I do not have the nerve to put it in the category of the above masterpieces. But It was designed to be different from the standard fair in SL, and to offer cummunity areas to relax and explore as well as gathering places and beautiful sights to see. It has an active volcano that dominates the island, with a 6 story teired temple suspended above the lava. You will also find a pirate ship in the cove with a pirate camp, a crashed space ship where survivors fend off savage natives of the jungle for their very survival, a wild neko tree village, and a Japanese Shinto-style sanctuary and gardens complete with waterfall, Bath house, and much more. Not to mention the many ruins of the ancient Neko culture scattered about the island. Lots to see if you just like to explore. /endplug

I'm sure there are excellent suggestions here, and hopefully you can use my site to find some more. The parcel directory is nearly at 700 locations now, each organized by type and with a clickable thumbnail taken by a resident who added it to the database? Find something that looks cool and teleport there right from the website! And after trying some suggestions and browsing, just get out there and explore, you never know what hidden jewel many of the rest of us have missed!

Suffugium (I think I spelled that right) is great--dystopian city build with an "Oldtown" underground.

Just one small point - Caledon has six sims, not five. ;)

I love Svarga.

That Desmond...can't keep up with the man. Every time I turn around there is a new one.

You must have tried "Search Places", it appears in "Search Classifieds". You can also find it by opening your map and typing "apollo" for the region name.

Because of group liability many people choose not to activate "Show in Find Places", or at least that's my guess. When land is group owned that option causes everyone to be charged a fraction of the L$30 cost, whereas Classifieds are charged to a single resident.

Good luck!

Taco and Serenity Woods are favorites of mine, as well as Nexus Prime and Suffugum. I also find a lot of cool builds simply by keeping an eye on Snapzilla's latest pictures... always something cool there.

Perhaps a request to make this thread a sticky is in order?
