I read a blog post by Torley about quicksearch bookmarks and I thought... Wouldn't it be cool if Second Life could have its own search tool in Firefox just like google and all the others? So I made some ;0 http://slinked.net/sl/I'm open to requests for other SL sites as well. It only requires that the site have a search form. If you want a pretty icon for them please email a 16x16 png image to baba@slinked.net

It would be even better if the search addon worked in Opera. Then I would actually use it.
I do have the LSL wiki set up to work in Opera's search thingie, it's just a Google site specific search, taken from the source for the Google LSL wiki search in the LSL wiki.
What would be even more useful would be something that would search all the SL related sites of one's choice at once.
Will these work in Firefox beta 2?

From: SuezanneC Baskerville Will these work in Firefox beta 2? Probably.. the format is simple and they would have to be trying to break it to make it not work ;0 A Second Life Super Search might be dificult with each site returning data in a different format. ;0 I'll look into Opera

Opera is not quite as easy to add to.. It requires you edit your search.ini file ;0 http://www.schrode.net/opera/search/search_ini.html

Will these work in Firefox beta 2? Do you really like Opera? Sorry to be a butt, but that's weird to me. It displays a lot of pages incorrectly, and has a bug with fonts when one has more than 800 fonts installed on their system--it will show everything in the wrong font, and the only answer they have to the problem is, and I quote, "Uninstall some fonts". The only redeeming feature of Opera is the way it zooms into pages. It doesn't even use a lot of the standard shortcut keys (ctrl+enter for .com shift+enter for .net, etc). Unless they've done some major renovations on their browser over the past 5 months, I don't understand why anyone would prefer Opera.

Could you make it search the F1 help? This might help one to be able to point people to the right spot in the help in the SL client.

Try Opera Tools menu, Preferences, Search tab, if you are in the mood to pursue this. To add the LSL wiki search into Opera search things I used that to add this: http://www.google.com/search?as_q=%s&as_sitesearch=secondlife.com2Fbadgeowith a keyword of "l". That adds an LSL wiki search to the drop down list of search engines that includes google, answers.com, etc. and it allows one to search the wiki from the address bar by typing, for example, "l llSay" .

Second411 Firefox Plugin
07-20-2006 13:43
If anyone else is interested, I created a FireFox plugin for the Second411 search service. It works great to search for things when you aren't able to actually be in SL: Second411 FireFox Search PluginThanks for making all of these Baba. Hal9k Andalso - http://www.second411.com

Wow very nice add on. I wonder if it´s too difficult to make a Location or SLurl search, type the Sim and it returns in the SLurl locator yes?

SlUrl Maker
07-20-2006 17:44
Have you seen: http://slurl.com/build.phpTo "make" a SLurl from a Sim name you just put it's name in. Is this along the lines of what you were thinking?
