Thoughts on today's update.

** We plan to provide features in future updates to mark specific parts of the Second Life world (or allow residents to mark their own land) as accessible only to accounts with payment information.

* The "Report PvP Abuse" option has been removed from the Help menu

I really hope this doesn't mean the info window for 'Xxxx has bounced you with a script' is going away. Or griefers can just hit you with long range weapons and now you'll have to GUESS who did it to you so you CAN file an AR.

** Residents can and should continue to report harassing PvP abuse via "Report Abuse" under Help

If they can tell who shot them. Kinda hard after you've been launched 6 sims away. By the time you get back, the griefer can be halfway across the grid.

** Residents should provide as much relevant information as possible when filing Abuse Reports

* The Library is displayed at the bottom of the Inventory for quicker access to one's own Inventory

I never even accidentally hit the tilde before. Heh... didn't know about that one.

* "Copy and Wear" now behaves identically to dragging a folder from inventory onto your avatar
** Existing clothing and attachments will be removed

YAY! That got bugged at some point recently and people getting my freebie avatars were IMIng me saying that I didn't sell them a full avatar (Copy and Wear would only wear clothes and skin/eyes/hair/shape, but not attachments)

That ones going to be a pain, when I am shooting pics to be photoshopped, I use that ~ constantly. trying to hit CTL + will be an interesting, as I tie my fingers in knots trying to keep the camera moving, lol.

hows is this going to help make sl better? what happend to the bug fixes btw?

Aww.. Ctrl+` will only make it more inconvenient to obtain those quick blackmail photos. You know, like when you give your friends interesting (and renamed) objects to wear or they do something silly for only a few seconds.

Just an after thought... the new setting seem to be agains new ppl, if i turn that on, isant that discrimanation.. what about my shop??

That never worked anyway, just because some one has a CC dosent mean a thing about age.
Its just LL making it easy on them self's and passing the work to there paying ppl.

What about us that are over the age of 18 and can't get a credit card and don't want a cell phone? I've applied for a credit card three times, i've been at my job for almost a year and they still won't let me have a credit card. i'm 20. Old enough for anything I can find on SL, but i'll be banned from places because i'm on a free account? >_>;

Get a debit card from your bank.

I was a basic account member for over a year. I only upgraded for business reasons.

And i assure you i am well over 18 - i have a daughter who is learning to drive.

For 'action' shots I'd recommend a take-snapshots-over-time program. FRAPS for the win. ^^

Seriously, if they aren't going to bother checking to see if the CC is active, then why the second 'group'?



It doesn't say anything about the CC being verified on the "Payment Info on File." I could imagine quite easily that people could/would fake a CC number.... So, do they verify it or no?

Never mind... I can tell now that they just felt like creating that group, which will be easily exploited.

although my accounts verrified and all, it's not as simple as snagging a debit card, In Canada, our major bank, RBC, their debit cards don't function in the same way the American counterparts due, lacking the 4 digit security code that enables you to treat it like a credit card

This new field.. Saying that your account has been billed or of the like.. Is anyone else finding this a little.... Whats the word... It kind of feels like a major invasion of privacy... Even though it does have its upsides. Id rather not have people know that "This account has been billed for this month" (however it doesnt say that it says something else). It still feels like something that people dont have the right to know.

One of the upsides im talking about is (some people may not have this problem) alts of people who are sig. others, griefers, ect...

You know.. It just doesnt seem relevent to gameplay, and I feel it doesnt have a need. You can find alts (pretending to be newbies) easily without this...

I mean seriously.. Does anyone else feel the same way I do? It feels just the same as if say "LL were giving your credit card information to other players" (thats not the truth BTW)

This isn't telling if you've paid your bill or not.

"No Payment Info on File" just means you didn't give LL a credit card # or Paypal info.

"Payment Info on File" means you have given the info, but nothing has ever been billed; i.e. you're a basic account, and you've never bought any L$ on LindeX.

"Payment Info Used" means you HAVE actually paid SOMETHING, whether it's a monthly billing for a premium account, tier, or a LindeX purchase.

Don't get your panties in a wad. No one's gonna know if you're a deadbeat.

Thank you!! I always use the WASD movement keys, and I have to push esc when I am done talking. I sometimes bump the ` (~) key, and people wonder why I'm taking snapshots of them. I try to explain what I did, but they don't believe me. Oh well, guess I won't have to worry about that anymore! GJ LL!

A question from anewbie about the updates: I understand, there will be updates ever 1~2 weeks. Do I always have to download about 25 MBs or are incremental updates planned? It seems like a waste of bandwith for me and for the SL servers.

Personally, no. Why should I care if anyone knows this about me really ? and frankly why are you so important that I'd care to know it about you ? it's really the most trivial of information anyway, and if you're the kind of person to be upset about it or use it as a reason to cause others a problem, there'll always be something else you can obsess about in its place.

Yep, I'm afraid that's the way it works, but with the speed of connection required to play SL it's literally only a couple of minutes download anyway.

I've heard rumours that they want to switch to incremental updates, but nothing solid. So far, every update has been a full replacement of every file.
