On another forums i came across a link to Microsoft's Virtual Earth
http://preview.local.live.com/

Microsoft has taken a car, outfitted it with cameras and driven it around the streets of Seattle Washington and San Francisco taking thousands of pictures. In an interesting turn of events, they drove past LL's new location, 1100 Sansome Street. And they did so at different times of the day. Proof positive they are stalking Linden Lab.

What a great looking little building. I'm jealous, I want to work there.

Hey? Who is that person standing outside, in the first picture?

I sure hope it's not a banned resident...

Edit: is that a yellow furry costume, too?

Since when did Microsoft's involvement ever make anything better?

Pypo didn't say whose viewpoint was the measuring stick for "better", though.

"Better" for Microsoft isn't necessary better for J. Random User. :p

Both Microsoft and Google are late to this sort of project. GeoSim produced a 3D version of Philadelphia last year.
