Well the sad thing is, I was going to introduce my niece to Teen SL, but after finding these snaps at Snapzilla (thanks Cris) I have changed my mind, there is enough exposure and pressure of sex at school, I don't need her to have it online as well...
The teens are supposed to have a perma "bra" and "undies" on... I don't think it would be too hard for LL to get these skins and such out of the teen grid, I guess they are just blind or chose not to waste thier time... *sighs*

I have to admit I have been surprised over and over by how LL has handled the Teen Grid. I remember when they first announced it, and put the fear of God into all of us about accessing it and made it seem that it would be a controlled, safe environment. Granted, I knew that was bullshit and that trying to control teenagers is like trying to herd cats. However, I have been pretty shocked by several things.

We have had two teen grid related episodes of Secondcast that definitely changed my impressions of some things. Early on, we had a teen grid member named Mercury Metropolitan (sort of the Anshe of the Teen Grid) come on, and he was quite frank about the amount of sex, cybering, etc.. that goes on. After that episode however, we did receive feedback from other teen grid members who said Mercury exaggerated, and that it definitely was not like that at all. I am sure the truth is somewhere in the middle. I know what I was doing offline at 15 I can imagine how I would have been online.

The other thing that surprised me was when we recently had the a director from Global Kids on Secondcast - they are a youth organization based in NYC that helps urban teens. They have a private island on the Teen Grid, and we spoke with Barry Joseph, who manages the island and is one of the only non-Linden adults on the teen grid. He said that in the very beginning, he signed up for the teen grid and looked around it on his own. This surprised me I guess because I was under the illusion that you couldn't just directly sign up for the teen grid as an adult and go on it. He did say that the teens on the grid are very wary of adults and protective of the grid, and will out people they suspect are adults.

Ultimately, with the new registration system, it seems pointless to even have a teen grid anymore. Why would they go on there when they can easily come to the main grid? It is certainly much more alluring at this point. I do think the Teen Grid does have some benefit, and LL can't police every single thing done on it - that is unfeasible. I guess it comes down to how much you trust your teen, and whether or not you think seeing a few virtual boobs is going to be that harmful to a teen that probably knows more than you do about sex at this point.

Is it particularly surprising teens would express themselves sexually with each other? Generally, if they're going to do so, they will find a way. I would be concerned if adults were involved, which is why I'm more bothered by their new policy.

I was surprised to see Robin Linden (I think it was Robin, I couldn't find the post) state that LL was more concerned about adults were accessing the teen grid than about teens accessing the main grid. I can't see much difference between the two.

BTW: that skin in the top photo looks very familiar.

Anybody who believed what LL said originally about the teen grid should care. The pics show that it isn't being policed/regulated as well as it's supposed to be.

On the teen grid, there's supposed to be a way of keeping them from seeing most adult content... that was the whole point when they developed that grid. Adult content uploads are not supposed to be allowed.

Well, it is painfully clear LL doens't care about COPA or keeping the teen grid PG13.

By the number of posters here think children should just be thrown to the wolves without any pretection is it any surpise LL thinks the samething?

I just wondering how long it will take for them to get sued for willful negligence.

I can't seem to see all those posters expressing that.
