Removing From Friends List - Implications?

The forum search function isn't working for me today (I mean literally isn't working at all), so I apologize if this is a F.A.Q.

Anyway, if I remove someone from my SL friends list, does that remove ME from THEIR friends list as well? Or is it like Yahoo Messenger where once you're on someone's list they can stalk you forever, regardless of whether they're in your own list? (Note that YM has a nice new individual stealth feature now, thank goodness.)

Thank you.

I always thought that if you removed them from your list, then you are removed from their list. I don't bother much with my list though, so someone should confirm or deny this.

If you cancel someone, you do in fact get removed from their list as well.

Do people get offended when they get removed from friend's list? I've met a lot of folks who put me as their friend and don't talk to me after. Usually because there's nothing to talk about or due to the time zone.

I usually delete around five to ten folks on my list occassionally but I'm wondering if I'm insulting these folks by doing so. It's not that I don't want them to be my friend, but my list tends to look cluttered and I really wanted a list specific for folks who I socialize often.

When you delete a friend, it removes you from their list but leaves a calling card. They are unable to see if you are online with the calling card.

Thank you so much folks! That's exactly what I was looking to know- and the answer I was hoping for...

/me begins pruning her friends list with impunity.

I clean out nearly allmy calling cards and friends once a year - near total deletion down to like maybe the 5 or 6 people I talk to the most.

I've found that folks that know me - and are my friends don't get offended and just swap cards again later.

A lot of people don't notice.

And the few that do get offended... its usually the first time they spoke to me since they gave me their card..... they give me a giggle :)

Thanks. :D Now I don't feel a tad guilty deleting a hell lot of cards. :D

If I can't recall why someone is in my friends list, I'd just delete it and not worry. If I can recall them, but just don't contact that person often enough to keep them there, I usually give them the courtesy of an IM before I delete them, explaining that it's nothing personal, but I'm just weeding the list...

If only there was some halfway option between having people on your friends list or on your mortal enemies list.

I wouldn't be offended in the least if someone I rarely spoke to deleted my name from their list. And I have done so as well and hope there are never hard feelings. I doubt they even noticed.

Sometimes it can be annoying to see all the commings and goings of people on your friends list.

When I first joined SL - if you deleted a friend off your list it would leave a (cancelled) message on the other person's list. ex. name (cancelled) This doesn't happen anymore? That would be great because it always made me feel so guilty and it would be blatently obvious to the other person that I had deleted them.

Ouch, might as well send 'em a postcard that says they've been deleted from your memory...
